Re: New shroud or switch to electric fan?
I had high temp problems when running a single electric fan that I bit the bullet and bought a dual 13 inch fan with controller. This fan puts out 4600 cfm. My upper hose temp now runs 180 and the lower is 121 after idling in stop and go traffic for a hour and a half. Here is a pic of both the set ups

I was reading this thread on saturday night and the next day I went to junkyard and found two electric fans suggested by buckskins4ever but they are 95's not 98, I think they are 16 In fans. I like if is posible see a pictures how is mounted.
Next weekend I coul get it for 10 bucks. |

Re: New shroud or switch to electric fan?
But. it took my attention the Hayhauler71 comment about using one or two fans.
Now the question is which option would be better one or two fans. |

Re: New shroud or switch to electric fan?
I bought the Jeep Grand Cherokee fan... It fits perfectly in the factory shroud... I'm doing an LS swap and it will be controlled by the PCM... I'll take some pics this weekend...
Also, from what I found, there are 2 Jeep GC fans... a single speed and a one year only 2004 two speed.... |

Re: New shroud or switch to electric fan?
Just wanted to add. In his case 4WD he has plenty of room for the thicker electric setup and shroud. However in a 2WD application with the engine in the standard location you could be cramped for room. In that case you would need a slim designed set-up. I personally ran into that problem on my GMC. And used a pair of the thin/ slim Zirgo fans and a custom shroud.
Also the clutch failure risks has been noted before and well documented on here. Personally I would never use a used 30 plus year old clutch fan due to the dangers and damage they can do.

Re: New shroud or switch to electric fan?
Well, the shroud has both tabs broke off the top and clutch is shot on fan, I plan on using old shrould to mount new fan in.

Re: New shroud or switch to electric fan?
Ok, here's how it turned out. I have it wired to ignition for now but will add a relay soon. All credit goes to 71rat for posting the how to on changing to a Jeep Grand Cherokee fan.

I really went this way because I needed a new clutch and the cost of it would have been greater that the 57.00 I paid shipped to my door for a brand new fan. I also woudl have needed a new shroud because mine isnt long enough for a factory clutch fan. |
