I've seen shorter-than-SWB trucks on here before, but never an in-between. Would take some figurin' to get it to look right! Interesting idea!

I think it will all come down to whether it not I can find a good bed somewhere for a reasonable price. If I can make that happen, then a shortening I will go!

And to answer the earlier question of how it will make my 700r4 swap easier, I already have a proper length d/s for the swap as well as it will be easier to set that drivetrain up without a body on the truck. I actually have the original 350 from my truck and a 700r4 to bolt to it and drop in without havin to have any down time with mine. My hope here would be to have everything put together to where I can swap on my cab and front sheet metal in a day or at least a weekend and then put it in to paint. I would like to only be down for a week at most.

I am in the process of shortening my C10 right now. Wasn't in great shape to start so I don't feel to bad about chopping the frame. I was tired of the carrier brg. And just needed a excuse. Now it is 20" shorter in between the rear axle and cab. Cheated I know, but if the altered look doesn't work I will eventually need new bedsides anyway and can adjust wheelbase to stock shortbed. I also z'd the rear frame section 3" and sectioned the front crossmember 2" also slid the front crossmember forward 3" to offset the rear end being forward. Sort of a pro street look, read way to many hot rod magazines as a kid in the 80's

It's definitely different, but not bad! I'm tempted to buy a long bed from the junk yard and work on cutting that down to practice on. That way if I mess it up, no big deal. I will start snapping pics when I get started.

Being a lwb owner I prefer the usability of the lwb. I have not owned a swb so really dont know from experience. I have hauled many tons on my frame in sandstone and machines what not. I have a deluxe truck camper i put on it to move around the yard. It looks horrible but my truck has retained its frame and function ability. They look sweet lowered! A swb i agree is worth more.
I really like your truck mixermike!!! Thats a Great shade of blue, my favorite!

That chop looked kinda cool with the ass end in the air. You can always post a threas in the photoshop forum and see if someone would make some in between axel and body lengths

Look at the value of a long vs short box. It speaks for itself but its all someone's opinion. Personally long beds are great for work trucks and I can't say I have ever heard the words "yeah it's nice except its a short box" each have there purpose and I'd be proud to own either
