Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Measured and cut the temporary seat cushions last night....now just need to get an hour to install the seats and ill be almost ready to fire you the engine.....
Engine wise I have to install the new air filter get the belts on and the rest should be done already....lets hope next week will be productive..... On a side note, I'm hoping to move houses soon. And if I can get enough land, a shop may be in order....now I just have to sell the wife on it... Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
OK, so the engine will crank over but it will not start. The fuel pump seems to be working, but for some reason, I can't get it to start....any ideas? The wire that is on the fuel pump is attached to the wire that is loose in the cab...i assume that is correct?
Anyone have any ideas? I'm at a little bit of a loss......

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
You know they say there are only 2 reasons why an engine wont start (or run) No fuel, or no fire.
I figure there are probably 500 things for fuel, and another 500 for fire that could be the reasons and chasing them all down (for me) has always been trial and error until I finally find the one thing.... Sorry to say but there is no way to tell from such a brief description across the internet what your issue may be. Do you have any professional mechanic friends that you could bribe with a case of beer to come over and help you drink it? Then happen to diagnose your engine trouble as a topic of conversation ?? LOL It works for me.....

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
OK, so I found out why the last owner had separate tanks... it appears that the cab tank has a very small leak in it, which then leaks gas onto the driver's side floor pan.
Now I'm looking for a place around here that can fix and test the gas tank or I'm going to get the rear frame kit from lmc... anyone have any advice on the two.... reasons to go with one vs the other? Right now I'm working on the starting issue...... going to remove front end pieces to gain better access to the engine for work..... it's time like these it would be really nice to have a garage

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
So, just like every other day I have off, I never seem to get as much work done on the truck as I would like. I did however decide that the truck was going to be torn down and almost a full rebuild to it. I cleaned out the area in my basement that I'm planning on using as a workshop, and did a little more tear down on the truck. took a couple of pieces off. decided on a color for it. and ordered a few more parts from LMC for it.
No longer worried about the fuel issue. Decided that I will go for a rear mounted tank, and I plan on rebuilding the engine and refabbing the body panels as I go along. Looking into different ways to remove rust at this point....any pointers would help.....been browsing the stovebolt site for ideas. Now on to the pics....the red part is the color i plan to paint the truck, with black bumpers grille and cab top

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Got the passenger side fender off....grill came off...need to get some of these stripped rusty bolts out of the grill....broke a socket on the bolt...even after using pb blaster on it....surveying best way to remove all this rust from the front.....as soon as I get the engine exposed, work will begin on cleaning and getting that running....title was all worked out and the truck is now in my name.....here we go with trying to get it road worthy now.....pics to come soon

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Nice looking truck, you'll have a lot of fun with it being a DD. Everything you get done is one step closer to roadworthy, don't give up on it.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Got a bit more stuff removed today. Not a whole lot of progress, but did encounter three bolts that were no match for my wrench.
Anyone have any suggestions for getting the front bumper bolts out......I seem to have them stuck half out right now.... Tomorrow I have to finish the floor in my living room, but then I hope to get some more removal of parts done. Pics!! and the aggravating bolts

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
So no progress lately...hoping to get most of the parts stripped off this summer so I can de rust and paint over the winter and reassemble next summer..then I can be on to the next project...LOL.
I hope to get a good air compressor here soon and a decent spray gun so I can shoot a somewhat deceny paint job. Got my 63 shop manual in the mail the other day as well as the manual for my equinox (got some work to do to that) Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
http://s1297.photobucket.com/user/fy...ff989.mp4.html
Here is a video of what happens when i try to start my engine. this is taken by the starter. I changed the spark plugs and wires today after cleaning more parts of the engine. used starter fluid to test it as the fuel lines are shot. What are thoughts about changing fuel lines, starter and ignition coil, and seeing where i go from there....anyone have any better ideas? I'm looking for different ways to do a fuel tank due to the fact that for now I think this is going to end up a flat bed as my bed is quite rusted out, the tail gate is questionable and what not....will be easier just to weld up a quick frame and put a wood plank bed of 2x6's down for a flat bed and will probably mount some kind of tank under it. Please help!!! looking for suggestions....need to get this truck running soon......drama in the neighborhood....thanks!!

Will it try to sputter if you pour a little gas down the carb? I mean like a bottle cap full, not like a cup.

Doesn't sound like the starter is turning over good, is your fan turning over when you try to start it???
