i was going off the info in the 1959 chevrolet truck shop manual supplement
wedding band is another name for the bearing retainer

No time to do anything tonight. However, I did go out to the garage and stare at things for a good 6-8 minutes.

That's the optional posi traction axle. It's a Dana vs the standard GM axle.

Banged in the axles today and got the rear end assembled. Seems to be OK. The axles don't spin freely, but they do move with a little effort. Everything moves the way it should. There is a little chatter when things are spinning, but I assume that's normal and will abate somewhat when the cover is in place and the unit is filled with oil.
