Re: Makin' Some Progress On The 4x4 Longhorn
Very nice. The one thing I didn't like about 4x4's is trying to reach stuff!

OK, so I put the new bumper on the truck the other day. I bought this bumper a couple of years ago and it has been in the original box on a shelf in my shop ever since. I thought it would go nice on this truck with the driving lights in it and all. I decided to wash the truck before I took the above pictures. No problem with the wash but when I was wiping the bumper down with the Chamois the chrome started peeling off along the top edge. As you can see in the pictures below I peeled almost all of the chrome off of the bumper by hand. There is more chrome under what I am peeling off but it has a Gold tint to it. The LMC label I removed from the inside of the bumper said it was manufactured in '08.... Bummer.. LockDoc

Re: Makin' Some Progress On The 4x4 Longhorn
Wow!! That chrome job was terrible. Since it's warranty has expired and the style looks good on the truck (really like the lights) get it rechromed eventually. Sucks that the chrome was such low quality in the first place. Notice how thin it looks.

Nice looking truck. Is the color Indigo Blue? That's a shame about the bumper, I wonder if others have had a problem with bumpers from LMC?

Your truck is great Leon, sorry to see the crappy plating job on the bumper. Hang in there on the build. Your doing a great job and the pictures prove its worth the effort! All the best, Dirk.

Thanks Bud. If I'm going to use it I guess I'll have to send it to the plater. I have a regular one I can use if I want.

That Longhorn you posted used a corporate 10 bolt in the front, so that isn't a real high pay load axle either.

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost a year since I updated this thread. I guess I have too many projects in the works..... Anyways, here are a few new pictures of the truck. I still have some things to complete on it but it is driveable. LockDoc

More. It's really hard to take pictures of a dark colored vehicle... Oh, and the wheels are staying for now for two reasons, One, I can't afford to replace them, and two, I have two people interested in the truck (with the wheels)... LockDoc

Re: Makin' Some Progress On The 4x4 Longhorn
It looks great Leon! Let me know what you might have going on Sunday. Also, I see the cowl is off right now. Maybe you can give me some pointers on installing them with the hood on. I have to remove mine to finess some fender alignment. But I'm really worried about scratching some paint.

That looks good but how do you climb up in there , I would need a booster ladder as short as I am.
