I see these (and other cars) chopped all the time at the big swap meets as unfinished projects. Some are total hack jobs and some are ok and nearly done but none of them can draw a dime.

There are a few very nice chops , not much - 3/4 -1 1/2 inch , that just look right. very few and far between - everybody thinks more is better - just another opinion, do what YOU want - Bob

IMO, i dont think i have EVER seen one look good, even with 2ft wide tires in rear, fully built bbc supercharged... still chopped top ruined it all.... but hey ITS YOUR TRUCK!!!!!

i've chopped a few tops. don't go at it lightly. don't go too far, the lower the roof the harder it is. the biggest problem with vehicle with curved windshields is the windshield. tempered glass does not like to be cut. if you have a nice cab and no experiance, then buy another cab and cut it. the wing windows will also give you fits. keep it 3" or less

I would only the chop the top unless you don't care about the value of the truck. Based on what I've seen of 20+ years of pricing, buying, selling, and owning these trucks, you will always get less for the truck than a similiar truck with a stock top.

The bottom line is that there's a lot of people that simply would not own one, and not many people who are willing to pay more for a truck with a chopped top...

Only one I've ever seen that I liked - the Dale Earnhart memorial show truck, from my saved pix file.

Chopped, but cut so little you almost have to look twice to see it, among all the other high$$$$ modif's.

I like these trucks chopped if its less than 2" and the original windshield is kept and laid back.
I would say that its not a project for a first build.

For me a chop can look good but only if the trucks stance is super low. Having it super low helps make it look like a well thought out package but nothing worse than a truck that still has a work truck stance and a chopped top.

But I do agree with the theme here, you can't go wrong with a stock roof

That said, I definitely agree with the guys about the value drop it will take....make sure you are dead happy with not getting the same return on sale day, because in most cases (like 95%)...it will be less....unless, as mentioned, chip foose does it.
