Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

Thanks for the meano love guys. People either love or hate El Camino's. When I was growing up my dad always drove a Elco. So I guess that's where I got it. Looks like it might get some new goodies from Detroit Speed and Engineering.

Sorry for the wait....

I have the parts list of what was done to the suspension:

2 1/2 Classic Drop Spindles
Lowered front shocks 1-5"
Lowered Rear Shock 3-5"
Coil Springs 2" drop Front
Coil Springs 5" drop Rear
C-notched but I don't think that it really needed it.
Rides and feels great

The wheels are 22" steelies

That's the headers I have on my stepside. I have a thread on here somewhere of installed pics, I think I was one of the first to use them. Be sure you use jam nuts or something on those ball and socket collectors, mine kept coming loose.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

No real update pictures to post. My powdercoater (R1C powdercoating) picked up my wheels, swaybars, & trailing arms. I'm still on the fence about wheels? Looks like I'll be getting some more 22"s Monday I hope. So I may have some fresh black 15x6.5 & 15x8 truck rallys for sale.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

I've made a little progress. Nothing that justifies pics. I got the motor apart, ready for the cam install. I got my parts back from powdercoat. I did some horse trading and got a 3 bar steering wheel and a Pertronix distributor. Plus I got another load of 22"s. When I sell them I can buy my suspension. We should get some more done on it this week. I've got 2 weeks till I start at DSE so we will be in full on thrash mode.

You couldn't be more right. I hope to get a few hours of thrashing today.

Thanks!

I've been trying to down size my shop. I went from 1800 sqft down to 900 sqft. The savings will buy more truck parts.(lol) Now that I'm only going to be working on my stuff (yeah right keep telling yourself that) I think it will be ok. Its still a messy embrassment, so pics. I'm gonna finish organizing next weekend then I'll post a bunch of pics.

I got the truck in the shop and on lift. I scored an ECE Super Track Bar in the classifieds. Thanks 70blackfish.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

No real labor updates but I got some more parts. Drop coils, shocks & shock relocators, and dropped sway bar brackets came from Early Classic and some rear disc brake brackets from Carolina Racing Supply.
We have been working crazy hours at the shop trying to finish a couple of cars for SEMA, So no truck time for me. After SEMA I think I will try my hand at building some tubular control arms.
Still have to buy brake parts and find a transmission. I would love to find a 2004r but would settle for an 700r4.

Haha, yeah. You got that right. I'll be interested to see what you come up with on those control arms.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

My plan is to build a tubular stock replacement but 1" forward to center the wheel in the Wheel well. I'm gonna try to use stock replacement shafts.

Re: Queen City Speed 67 Shop Truck build

No more updates. Its been a whirlwind of a year. Changed my password when the site was hacked, then forgot it. The C-10 is sold. Traded the ELDOGG for a new daily & some cash. I have been working a little on my Square Body Crew Cab dually.
