Yeah John Lee Hooker.lol That man was just cool.

Yeah I'm also a music nut I own over 900 Albums original issues. I've been getting them all on CD but than ipods, and mp3 came out so I stop.lol I own about 500 CD's.
My collection consist of everything from Billie Holiday to David Bowie.lol The dates range from 1940 to about 1978 that's when music took a sad turn. It was called disco.lol

We can not forget the man who invented soul the late great Sam Cooke

Re: What song would go with your truck?

Another dude who was smooth. The great T-bone Walker California blues at its best. He actually wrote the blues standard Stormy Monday Blues.
By the way this is live no autotune nothing but pure talent.

1955 hits:

Rock Around the Clock, Bill Haley and the Comets. It was in American Graffiti, that's good enough for me!

...and one of my all time favorites from one of THE all time greatest vocal groups that no one ever talks about. "Only You" by The Platters

Man, why doesn't anyone cover their songs? Answer: They can't!
The Platters - Only You - HD (1955) - YouTube
The Platters were some of the best. I have a couple dozen 45's that were in my Mom and Dads collection, they played the Platters all the time.

Absolutely some of the all time greatest vocalists...all of them. The word "great" gets thrown around pretty loosely these days but The Platters are all time greats.

White R&B guys? I don't know if this will upset anyone or not but for me? Stevie Ray Vaughn, absolutely. A different kind of music than old school R&B but classic to me:
