Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

BTW, you could probably fund this by selling your steering wheel to "a good man"

On a different topic, I need a bed trim piece (as you can see in the pictures). I was wondering if this is the right one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Lower-B...b54bee&vxp=mtr

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

Cutting one coil wrap in front. Re-Alignment. New shorter shocks as well. Rear: Remove box and move front spring mount up accordingly. Drill holes for grade #8 bolts. Trim leftover mount that protrudes above frame rail. You will likely need a shorter shock for the rear. The old truck likely needed new shocks anyway, right? If fab work is not in the cards, buying the parts ($) will be. If you smoke and or drink, go cold turkey for while to pay for the goodies. Every gain demands a sacrifice.

I'm thinking about doing some fab work if needed.

BTW, I'm 19 so definitely no drinking or smoking is involved and it will never be.

Everyone will say no based on the brand. Go take a pick of your axle saddles and post it. If it is like my C20 they only make weld in kits. Can you weld?

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

spend the $300 and buy dropped spindles, cut a coil off the front springs, and make a flip kit for the rear buy welding on new spring perches, or cutting the old ones off and welding them on the bottom of the axle tube....4/6 drop for cheap.

I am not familiar with this part of a vehicle, please explain about the axle saddles. Why do I need them?

I don't know how to weld but my older brother does (I want to learn though).

the part on the top of the axle tube where the leaf spring mounts... gets switched to the bottom when doing a "flip".

You really don't need a c-notch unless you are going below 6"

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

Since I can't seem to find a flip kit for the C20 3/4 ton, my question now is: Will a C30 1 ton flip kit work? If not, why?

If the C30 kit works, will I need to c notch the frame with this kit or is there enough room under there for 8" drop.

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

just measure your axle and get a perch for it.. it'll be better and cheaper.

BTW, thanks for the help guys!

From what you're saying, it sounds to me like there might actually be a way of doing this, that makes the truck ride BETTER than stock. Is that the case? Is there a method of lowering that can actually improve ride quality? Aside from bagging it, of course.

any method will make it ride better....try removing a leaf or two out of the rear leaf springs, that will def help soften the ride.....

Dont reuse your U-Bolts. Some people do but its a big safety concern. The plate should be fine. Go to barnes4wd and order the perches and u bolts for your axel.

Good shockes at the right angle and pulling a few leafs will give you the best ride.

On a C20 a flip will net you about 8 inches

Go take a picture of where your axel and springs meet. I doubt the C30 will work. The issue is that the pearches arent flat on the bottom on the 14 bolt rear end. If you have something other than the 14 bolt it may work.

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

Good ol' bullet proof 14 bolt. Notice the spring perches? They dont make a flip kit for those as they are angled on the bottom side. You will have to do a weld in spring perch. Take a look at the build thread in my signature. I did a shackle and hanger drop and pulled three leafs for a 6inch drop.

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

Did mine with 2" drop spindles and 3" springs for front, rear was lowering shackles and flipping the front hanger to raise the height where the front of the leaf spring mounts. then drop shocks and alignment. made dropping the rear relatively cheap compared to the front at least.

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

So here's what I'm thinking. This kit here and I'll take a couple leafs out (how many?). That should drop the rear quite nicely.

Re: Dropping on a very very small budget?

could possibly take out the helper springs. but will still need to get shocks, some kits come with shocks but cost more of course.
