Re: What makes a custom cab?
On some of the dealer invoices I have the dealer would state Custom Cab on the customer invoice but the Factory Order Sheet would have the Custom Comfort Z62 or Custom Appearance Z61. On several Factory Order Sheets they list Z62 as a Custom Group.
AS for the Big Back Window as we refer to it, the correct definition is Panoramic View or Full View Rear Window. These three sheets apply to the same truck.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
I think I read it somewhere, but can't find it now.
Are some cab sails stainless steel, and some aluminum? If so, what years are what? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What makes a custom cab?
Also, the 60-63 have the Bow Tie emblem / "Custom" word at the bottom which as stated are made of Stainless Steel.
& the 64-66 have the Bow Tie emblem / "Custom" word in the middle of the sail panels. Which are the aluminum.

Are these the Stainless Steel type?
I just picked them up for $50 shipped. Is that a decent deal?

Re: What makes a custom cab?
also about the custom options like the astronaut pointed out in another thread where we discussed them i would also like to say when a standard cab truck with white grill was ordered with the z62 custom comfort option the trim panel on the drivers kick plate was stamped with the word std for standard cab and did not have the z62 code listed at all.only time you will see the z62 listed on the trim plate is when you have a custom cab truck with the z62 custom comfort package included.all custom cab trucks without the custom comfort package will have z61 on the trim plate.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
I don't mean to hijack the thread in any meaning but when y'all were talking about the shocks, my 64 C20 has hi-jack adjustable air shocks in the rear for extra load capability. I still need to look at the build sheet for it if I can find it just to compare the info to what y'all are talkin about on here. By the way fellas, digthe info, this is some stuff I've been trying to track down for a while for my truck.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
It appears the invoice in post # 31 was written up by a rookie or ex Ford salesman. The invoice lists "V8 engine". Which one? 283 or 327? Custom Cab is a Ford option, which "Custom" option did they refer too? There were 3 "Custom" options. Custom Chrome ( chrome front bumper and hubcaps) Custom Comfort ( full foam seat, dual sun visors, extra insulation etc). Custom Appearance,( aluminum grille, sail panels on upper cab, stainless winshield moldings etc).

Re: What makes a custom cab?
Interesting, where were these trucks built? I have standard cab with painted front grill with the "Custom Comfort" option built in Fremont, has the Z 62 stamped in the trim section on the "For Economical Transportation" kick panel tag.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
must be a west coast thing to be listed on the trim plate.the eastern built trucks from norwood ohio and atlanta georgia that i have seen are not listed at all.as i live on the east coast i do not get the chance to look at many west coast built trucks.but i assure you this is correct for trucks built in the east.you know that they also have other variations from east to west coast built trucks such as the body color painted firewalls or the fawn painted firewalls from the eastern trucks.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
Sorry about the hijack. Did the big window option come with a different rear view mirror? My mirror is 8" wide, but does not provide a full side to side view of the rear window.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
It will also make a big difference w/night driving. You wont get all the hood glade off the back glass. I debated it for over a year and finally got one myself. It was a factory option or could have been dealer installed too.

Re: What makes a custom cab?
Take some time to watch the auctions....I found an early take off OEM mirror for the same price as the reproductions and its stainless steel also.
On the vanity mirror...there are two versions Ive seen. The one you posted and another that has a holder for a comb.
