Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Here it is almost done just a small high spot to take care of. This took me about 6 hours lol. I know a little slow but this was first patch ever. Saved me from having to spend over 300 for new knock off though.

Looks good
I wouldn't have known this was your first patch if you hadn't said so.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Found a 70's van tilt column I am picking up this Friday it already has the neutral safety switch relocated and shortened shaft 1 1/2 inches so it can get closer to the dash. The tilt that was in this truck has the key in column not sure what it is out of. Everytime I look in the salvage yards these tilts are gone. Is 390.00 good price guy said it has been totally gone through? Also comes with the shaft so should bolt right in.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
This is the pedal assembly PO had in truck I have new booster and Captainfab mounting bracket. But need to get pedal assembly that will bolt in correctly. I have a pedal assembly out of a 62 with clutch pedal but the brake rod is not threaded. Can I use this assebly with another brake rod? Any suggestions of what year to get it from?

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Bracket worked perfect. I used the pedal assembly out of a 62. I still need to figure out how to make a pedal rod. The threads on booster are smaller than on the brake rod gonna have to adapt somehow. Anyone else had this problem?

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
With the aftermarket boosters something like this should be all you need.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
You sure are making great progress, everything looks great! Agree with the Captain, would have not guessed that was your fist patch. Looking forward to watching the progress.
BTW, thanks CaptainFab for the tip on the pushrod, I have the same problem and was thinking I would have to fab something once I got the MC installed. Nice inexpensive solution.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Got my tilt column installed came out of 70's van everthing seems to work good will pull it back out now. Need to get me a better steering wheel. I like the way it sits in here will gain about another inch when I change the wheel adapter as well. Now that this is done can finish taking everything out of cab for paint prep.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
This is how I solved the brake rod problem. Took the stock rod put it in my drill mounted in vice. Turned on drill and turned the rod down using a flat file to where I could thread it 3/8 24 like on the booster I got. After I turned it to size I cut to right link then threaded.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Picked up this aluminum grill this weekend. Massaged the dents out of it today just need to strip all the anodize and start polishing. I saw on here that oven cleaner helps strip anodizing anyone got other ideas that work well?
