I think I will walk from the campground to town. Looks like a 3 mile walk, better than dealing with a traffic jam and $50 parking I suppose. I will be in a red 99 Denali.

Joe, I just got my spots this week, I know Mark said he hasn't got his charges on credit card yet, that was a couple weeks ago when I talked to him

For those of you that can not go the history channel will have the auction on saturday nite at 6 or 7 o clock , it's either the auction or a special on the auction, but i think it might be the auction , check your local listings

One thing that's not getting much pub is parts. Mr. Lambrecht was no-doubt a packrat, so I would guess there there would be boxes and boxes of NOS parts, marketing materials, specialty tools, etc. The auction website lists a few items but that might be where the real gold lies.

I was looking at all of the photo's last week, and it just made me sick, especially when I saw a few of the 72's that someone stole parts off of. I never could find the reason why he didn't/wouldn't sell any of the vehicles. He was fine just letting them rot...WTH???

We see this mentality all the time with the owner that will "restore" it some day, this is just on a larger scale. I grew up in eastern Nebraska and this collection was well known. These vehicles were well cared for when the old man was running things. Then he was no longer able, it just went to hell. This is not the only collection of this kind.

We are just tenting it so the golf course wouldn't have worked for us. Hopefully they will have a shuttle bus or something.

I was the guy at the auction that brought a scaffolding bench to stand on to tower over the crowd.

Prices were crazy! but it was cool to see! What a shame though that those new cars and truck sat outside and got messed up.

69-72, was you scaffle a little blue bench type thing? f so I was one of the people sitting in the chairs in the circle, when they were selling the 63-65 new trucks, you stood right beside us I think. I went back to the motel and drank a bunch of beer. We left Early Sun and headed home, glad we did, I'm looking at the prices for the ones selling Sun and they are way high still

We picked out and hoped to buy one of 5 of the 64-65 trucks and stood next to the damaged 65 maroon truck till the auctioneer told us they werent prepared for so many people so the bidders had to get pushed back. I never got a chance to use my bidder# as they were unbelievablely rusty from setting in the dirt. Look at the hubcaps and see the rusted bottom half of the froze up wheels and draw a line at theat level all through the bottom of each truck and the metal was crusty rusted to pieces on nearly everyone of the trucks. The black/white 66 that sold for $39k was the worst of all for trailing arm and control arm rust. Even the floor pans were rusted on the outer near the cowl. I got great pictures of all. And the pieces that were stolen like radiator caps, lighter, manuals antennas knobs, was unbelievable. Add then idiots bouncing in and out of the trucks acting like they were kids in car lot. I lost my temper a few times with these people and then just closed my eyes. Even one ***** and her husband were trying to pull out the build sheet behind the seat springs of the black 66 pickup. You could have cried watching them old pickups go even further down hill that they already were.

Check this out. I talked to a guy from Pierce who has worked around the farm place since the 60's. All the new 64-66 trucks had been parked outside in the farm yard area since they were left over new ones in the 60's. None of these were ever stored in a building and the trees grew up over them and fell on them in storms. The tires went flat and they set in the dirt all those years. This is what those buyers are going to find in all the seam areas and frames. I even witnessed that $21000 red/white C10 with the 292 had a rusted header panel above the visors inside not to mention the rusted cab corners.

No it's was a aluminum work platform type of thing. There was three of us on it at times. I got some pretty good pictures being up high. I will post a bunch later including a shot of 3 of the new 63-65 trucks all loaded up on one trailer headed to St.Louis. He bought 5 of those and one new 76 or something pickup.

They had a map in one of the tents that you can place a star on it where you are from. Nearly all 50 states were respresetned as well as some other surprising locations. I got a pic of that too.
