Re: SA 56 build
Finally....stained and sealed all the boards.
Glad I noted the position of each board as I think it saved a bit of time on my test fit.

Re: SA 56 build
Thanks.
Just trial fitting the boards as I have to fit filler tube and fuel lines since relocating the tank out the back. Does anyone have any recommendations on running and securing fuel lines?

Re: SA 56 build
Just a little bit of progress.
It is a lot harder putting the bolts in for the bed strips than it is taking all the bolts out. Luckily my lovely assistant had an hour to spare to help me out.

Re: SA 56 build
yes it does take a lot more time to install the bolts than to remove them
is it an optical illusion or are your bed strips on top of the wood?

Re: SA 56 build
Yes, the strips are on the wood but they sit in a rebate(?) in the timber which sort of locates the strips and maintains the timber spacing.

Re: SA 56 build
Since the tank is out the back now we need a new fuel filler location.
Fitting one of these Pulled the back fender off so the new filler can go in, here's before and after (fender on and now off) Hopefully the new filler will be welded in this week

Re: SA 56 build
if your truck is stock height or a 4x4 that spot works fine
i so wish that i had put my fuel door on top of the fender but then i'm 6'4'' (1.94 M) tall, i have to bend in half to fuel truk plus it would help the speed of filling and venting the tank

I suppose you would need some drain holes for rain etc(?) Anyway, it's way higher than my 68 Camaro filler.

Re: SA 56 build
Its been a while, unfortunately the finances were going the wrong way as I lost my job.
Now things are getting back to normal so I can start doing some work on the pickup and not feel too bad about it. Anyway, got the filler door fitted, it's still in primer but I think it is some sort of progress.

Re: SA 56 build
that's the problem with jobs: if you have one there's no time to work on the projects
if you don't have one, you have lots of time but no money to work on them fuel door looks great

Re: SA 56 build
I've always had that issue.... I either have money or time, but rarely both at the same time.

I am trying to make sure I get into the garage this weekend but not sure if that will happen. Trying to get inner fenders to fit around Jag front suspension. Cutting inner panels and welding in new pieces for clearance seems to be the only answer.

Re: SA 56 build
So I am finally working on the pickup again.
I was out of work for a while the truck was on the back burner. Inner fenders have been tidied up to suit the Jag IFS a bit better. Finally sorted out some headers. I had to chop up some block huggers but at least the pipes miss the steering shaft now. Sorry these are photos from my phone I took while the headers were tacked. The headers are all welded now and I'll have to get some hi temp coating on them to make them look a bit better. Passenger side (which used to be driver side ) Driver side
