Re: My '54 3600 build

I've actually found a lot of stuff at NAPA. Go to their web site and enter your truck. They've got quite a few parts. They had leaf spring shackle bolts, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, master cylinder, bearings, etc...
Some things were a little more than the truck catalogs like LMC, classic ind., etc. but I had it in hand, and was easy to return if it was wrong. So far the parts are good.

Hey Hogger

Thanks I just went to the NAPA website and they claim to carry king pins and brake parts and stuff like that....I am impressed....the guys at my local NAPA have been really good to me so once I get the thing home I will have to start looking into these parts...

Re: My '54 3600 build

Did some front brake work yesterday.
Working on the bearings, but I still need to track down a good price on a B46.

Re: My '54 3600 build

This is the best price on bearings I've found.

http://www.classicparts.com/Wheel-Parts/products/62/1/0

With a 60 year old truck, you don't have much options.

BTW-Where did you get that shock bracket?

Re: My '54 3600 build

Shock bracket are actually trailer spring shackle bracket pieces. There are two on each side. First ones ended up being too low, and the shocks were bottoming out, so I welded another set on the top of the first ones. Turned out not too bad.

Re: My '54 3600 build

I was thinking about using a different style shock by using these.

http://www.performanceonline.com/195...ock-Mount-Kit/

Seems like the OEM shock would bind when suspension cycles.

I would have to rotate a bracket like yours 90 degrees though.

Re: My '54 3600 build

wish I woulda known sooner you were working on cab. I'd send you some inner cowls I'm working on for production to try out. I'm assuming you already got your patches? What i did was make reference points on where the original holes for the fenders where on the outter cowl, that way when you line up your new metal you are certain those holes line up with your fenders, in other words puts your fenders right where they originally were. I'm sure it will be fine though.

I just went through the same thing your doing. I made all my patch panels and did an entirely custom floor. just about done. 70hours in so far.

Re: My '54 3600 build

Oh thank. I did buy panels for the outer cowl, and the inside curved channel piece that sits right behind the cowl panel. I guess that's the inside cowls you are talking about.
The rest I am fabricating. A little on the floor, toe panel and kick panel.

Re: My '54 3600 build

Got my wheels done. Pretty sure they are from an early 90's Chevy. I put 235/60-16's on them.
Here is a little before and after.

Re: My '54 3600 build

Getting some interior work done.

Found a good deal on a set of buckets... So that's the direction I went. I wasn't sure if I would do a bench or bucket's, but these sealed that. The PO pulled them from his '79 Camaro, but from what I can find it doesn't look like they are original to the that car.

Bed set it place. Still need to work on it's final position.

Re: My '54 3600 build

coming along nicely. luv the shifter!!! I'm usually not a huge fan of buckets but those look good. All this little stuff really adds up, some guys don't realize all the hours that go into a build.

Things are moving along pretty well. I'm sure I must have missed something, and will have to dismantle the front end
