Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Another thing that turned out kinda neat is my radiator cover. when I was taking off my threshold plates I bent one up so I was PISSED " thats great what am I gonna do with one of these" as I set it on the core support to get it out of the way for a second, continued to be mad for a bit but when I went to grab it I saw that it actually fit almost perfect on the radiator! It didnt really match anything under my hood and was a little scratched so I hit it with a DA sander and a red scuff pad and threw some clear on it and got this.
not bad for something I thought I was gonna have to throw away

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Still haven't had much time to work on the truck but I did get the hose sleeve I ordered and a couple of the gates power grip clamps. Helpful tip= if you use these clamps make sure you measure the diameter with a caliper...for what ever reason I assumed that the heater hoses were the sizes that were stamped on the hose... NOPE, so now I have quite a few clamps I have no use for at the moment. Anyway I think the hoses turned out pretty good and for a fairly cheap alternative to making a custom hard pipe or using stainless steel braided hoses. let me know what you guys think!

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
I dont know if anyone can answer this but would there be any reason I couldn't run a 3/8's rubber fuel line from my tank to the fuel pump at the block? I would put this sleeve or a similar one on the line to protect it. My Dad was saying it may not be a good Idea due to ethanol being in the fuel and it just sitting in the line could weaken it and eventually could suck shut. I don't really want to covert over to actual braided line but I suppose I could if this doesn't seem like a good alternative.

Cool truck man. I really like the way you've cleaned up the engine bay. Do you have a link to that hose wrap? That looks a million times better then plain rubber hose. Keep up the great work, subscribed

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Looks good. It's the little details that make the truck. Ever think about trimming that same peice where it overhangs into the wheel opening (pic 4)? I think that it would look good if it was contured the same as the wheel opening.
Keep it up Marc

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
still moving slowly but surely. I've ripped out the old pieced together fuel line and replaced it with a Red Horse Performance steal braided line, filter and fittings. Ive also just been doing some rewiring and taking all the old wire loom and replacing it with weaved loom from wire care.
also got this pic with my other truck, don't mind the tag on the duramax hahaha

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
well since the blue shop truck came in the picture I decided to put this one on hold for a bit and the main reason being is I'm gonna do a Porterbuilt suspension and I didn't see any reason to tear apart a perfectly good set up thats on the truck. So the plan is to pull the engine, trans, cab and all the sheet metal off this truck and put the shop truck on this chassis and use the blue trucks frame for my new frame with all the porterbuilt stuff.... if that makes since.
Im also gonna be robbing the silver truck for its seat, carpet, old bed wood, windshield and what ever else I need for the shop truck. kinda sucks the take it even further apart but its gonna be worth it when its done

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Sure. The tack is from New Vintage USA and its there 1969 series. The install was actually pretty easy.. you do have to to cut your glass or what ever it is and the metal housing so the tack can stick through. I also cut a 2 slits through the green part of the printed circuit. I have a MSD box so it hooked it up to that. I think you can hook it up to your distributor if you don't have an ignition box.

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Hey, jus2qwk, really enjoying following your blue truck build but what's the drop & wheel/tire specs on the silver truck?
I'm picking up a '71 stepper next week and like your stance and wheel/tire set-up. |

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Sorry guys I didn't realize I had any comments on this thread. The drop in this picture is about a 5 to 5 1/2 drop on the front and a 5 on the rear... gave the truck a nice little bit of rake but I was going to a 7 on the rear to level it up and now I'm going with bags haha. the wheels are torq thrust II's 18s up front and 20's out back

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Any of you stepside guys on air have any tips on where I can mount this stuff? I have my gas tank under the bed so that location is out, under the cab might work but the tank hits the cab brace and the tank hangs lower than the rail. I've been debating on raising the bed floor so maybe I can make a mount across the frame at the front of the bed. I don't really want the tank and compressors in the bed floor but that might be my only option.
