You are already off to a great start. Loved your last WIP. The frame is excellent, perfect home for the LS. I was curious, how cold does it get there cause until it is spring time I'm not doing much outside except for shoveling snow. And thanks to Hankster for the link.

Thank you! The white really sets the motor off.

Well I decided to scrap the rims anyway. I'll just get new ones.

Thanks! It gets pretty cold here. But It also gets pretty hot. As you can see from my post dates I didn't do anything all winter cuz it was anywhere from 5-30 degrees F these past Winter months. It was over 80 today though.

I've been finishing up this truck slowly. Buttoning up stuff and putting all the little things on. Here are a few engine bay shots.

Also, I want to make 2 containers or trays for the fuse block that I built and for the computer sitting on the inner fender. Do you guys suggest anything I could use or build to put these things in/on? Thanks Y5, I'll check out your recommendation as well.

Unfortunately I'm far from done, my friend.

I decided to take the truck in a different direction. I'm not completely done working out the bugs of the motor swap yet, but I'm starting something new on this truck while I finish all the little things.

Any guesses what I'm doing?

What are you using for the wire harness to start the engine, after market or did you do it your self

Stock, re-worked harness. I spliced it into the truck and made the fuse block myself. I sent the computer to Brendan at lt1swap.com to turn off emission stuff, adjust fan settings and turn off the electronic transmission to turn it into a standalone harness for the engine. I kept the transmission connectors on the harness though because I plan on putting in an overdrive in the future. I've been thinking about buying an aftermarket harness. But I haven't justified the prices they're going for yet.

Re: Moby: My Chevy 4x4 ls swap

Installed a 6 inch Super lift on the front. Also coated the front axle in por15.
Check out the difference in arch between the stock spring and the 6" Super lift spring. I'm in need of oversized mud terrains now..

Looks good with that lift! You should do it up Cali style with some 15x12 and some 33s with that lift..

Re: Moby: My Chevy 4x4 ls swap

I got the bed back on and put all the new shocks on except for one in the rear because the mount to the frame broke! Does anyone know where I can get a new shock mount? Autozone/O'Reilly both failed me. Figures.

Anyway, now that this lift is on, I need help picking out wheels and tires! Here's a few examples chrome or black??

If you're keeping the grill, mirrors, bumpers, etc chrome, then I'd keep the wheels either chrome or maybe the ones with the black centers and machined faces. The black wheels can look cool but need more black accents on the truck to look right IMO.

Sorry for the loss of Bear! It does seem that you are off to great things with Moby.

What's the story with the red truck in your avatar? Is there a build thread for that truck too? I've see the youtube videos of it running.

Thanks for posting great write ups!

Thanks for your opinion, most people I've talked to about wheel color have voted chrome as well! I'll keep the thought of adding black accents to the truck though. Still haven't pulled the trigger on a wheel/tire package.

Thank you for reading my threads! Im glad a few people enjoy them. There is no build thread for the truck in my avi. I owned that truck for a total of 6 months before i knew about this website, but I had a ton of fun with it. Since you asked, I'll post some pictures of it! Dont forget, you asked for it!

I welded up a cool 3 inch exhaust with 4.5" chrome tips

I installed a nice highliner headliner

I installed 2nd row seats out of a 2011 tahoe

Then one miserable day, someone accidentally backed their truck into mine

So I replaced the panels and did some body work

Still had fun though

Painted the bad panels. It's a burnt orange color by the way, not red. Pics don't do the color justice.

Still used this pretty truck in the mud and dirt. It ain't only good on pavement.

The orange truck had a built 350 with a large cam and a 4 speed with the granny gear. It actually spanked local Hondas in races and it made me feel good! Sounded like a big block. Would NOT pass emission tests, so that sucked. Had a 6 inch skyjacker lift with 35 inch toyos and 20 inch wheels. A very fun truck but I ended up trading it for a camaro and mustang package. I go through cars quite a bit.. I've had so many others.

By the way, I got that rear shock mount from Napa.

Re: Moby: My Chevy 4x4 ls swap

I drove Moby around last night and that 5.3 sure is peppy! Just like I remember it. Still have to work out a few bugs and wire a few more things up. And the truck wanders pretty bad on the road. Also needs an alignment because my steering wheel is upside down, my right turns are wide and it will turn left on a dime. I put the wheels off Bear on Moby just for fun to see what it would look like.

Nice truck!!! Love the 5.3 swap.

One question. Your black trim along the lower sides of the truck, is that stock? I'm trying to find an alternative to that stick on chrome LMC stuff, and I haven't seen straight black before.
