Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Gonna keep her JImmy, or swap in something else?
I think I'd almost feel obligated to keep a good runnign straight six if my truck came with the original. Sort of a place of honor for a 60+ year old motor that has stood the test of time.

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Do you mean these?
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...mentid=1174525 If so they are actually throttle bodies for an electronic fuel injection system. They were sold by Retrotec. Unfortunately they are no longer available. ( I am looking for some more ) The Fenton you see is on the exhaust manifold. |

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
I'm just in the tear down stages right now with my 235. I've got the 848 head. Going with Fenton dual carb intake with my two Rochester B's. Fenton headers out to glasspacks. Got an HEI distributor from a '78 Nova, and alternator for the 12v conversion.
I can't wait to get her up and running. I did finish the valve cover. |

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Not a single hopped up GM 6, or at least prettied up engine in the whole house? Looking for ideas for mine. Gotta get my Christmas wish list made up soon.

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Really Dude? The thread is only TWO pages and you couldn't bother to go back and look at one page before criticizing?!

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Diceman50, what are you using to control your fuel injection? Is it megasquirt? Thinking about going with a modern throttle body injection setup on mine. Thanks. Jim

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
I'm hoping the lettering lasts with the heat. I ended up using a Krylon paint pen, but I'm thinking I may have to fix it in the future.

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Thanks Diceman. Lot of interesting reading. Gonna head out to the junkyard this week. I have HP Tuners so might go with something I can access with it. Hogger54, the valve cover came out very nice. Whats the blue you used?

Re: Anybody here with tricked out chevy 6 cylinders?
Thanks, I used Krylon X Metals. It's supposed to create kind of an anodized look. Doesn't really look anodized to me, just a bright metallic blue, which is what I wanted. I couldn't find a bright metallic blue engine paint, so this is the route I took.
They have a special primer that I used with it, and it's supposed to be pretty heat resistant. We'll see. |
