Thanks, I have seen the 'short stuff' build on here and a two random internet pics of others in progress. Are there any other builds somewhere? Yes the hood opening will be narrowed and the 'sides' are welded to the fender tops. I hate seeing the wheels and the tires above the fender tops when the hood is up.

Well when we did the rendering, I was planing on making the hood reverse opening. I have since worked in the engine compartment of a 67 GTO with a tilt front end, it definetaly made me realise that doing a reverse hood was not for me! It will have a late model style cable operated latch. I am going to find a 62-3??? hood that has the "style lines" by the signals. If you were thinking about air flow, I will be sealing the radiator to the core support and the fans to the inside of the radiator. The engine heat will just have to go out the bottom.

I really like the ragtop! Is that the same butternut yellow they used on the Chevelle? The GTO has had a really ruff life!! It is a real matching numbers 4speed car, but someone really did a number on it!! The front frame top has been welded and smoothed, frame horns hacked up for the tilt, the Pre-K students welded the front end together and smoothed everything on the firewall, cut the rear seat back support out ECT... We have a super clean Lemans shell to swap everything over to on the way. I was just getting it running after years of sitting before we disassemble it for the frame off restoration/swap.

I'm brainstorming and I don't have any doors For the Blazer. Does anyone know if the 64-66 Door Glass is flat glass? Anyone familiar with inside the doors? If I lay the B Pillars back to the point they would be vertical, would the glass have room to roll down and clear latch mechanism?

If anyone is really familiar with 64-66 doors, I could use some definitive answers to a few questions. I'm trying to sort out some issues with the quarter windows (length, weight, angle ECT....) I'm thinking about leaning the B Pillars/door frames back to the point where they are vertical. Plus I think it might look better.

(1) Is the door glass flat glass?

(2) Does the factory setup actually roll up and down vertical? (The rear of the glass just comes away from the channels as it rolls down)

(3) If I was to lean back B Pillar/ Door Frame to the point it went vertical instead of leaning forward, would the door glass have clearance at latch when rolled down?

Ok it looks like I can lean back the B Pillars without any door glass to latch clearance issues. We modified the rendering and I think it looks better like this anyways!! What do you guys think? I'm hoping if I do it then I can move the quarter window motor to the front side of the wheelhouse for more room and get it closer to the center of the glass to help with it dragging/binding.

The front floor and inner rockers were pretty trashed so we cut the entire floor out for a "flat floor". It still has the stock supports and braces except the one that crossed the trans tunnel.

Its been a while since I posted on this build. I have been mostly hanging in the 47-59 builds section. Even tho we have been extremely busy at the shop with a few other full builds, I have found a bit of time to get some progress on the Blazer. So lets get caught up here

Since my last update we have changed a few things. Well I has having trouble getting the side glass to work correctly in mock up, so while brainstorming and looking for ways to save weight on the setup, I realized I thought it would look better if the B-Pillar was straight instead of leaning forward. Also I painted a BMW with the green I had picked out for the Blazer and realized I did not like it so I decided I liked blue. So we changed up the rendering. What do you guys think?

So the first thing to do is get the body off of the frame and welded to the body table and the frame welded to the frame table.

Next thing before all the bracing goes in was to crawl around inside and find and center punch all the spot welds and install some Clecos in strategic location so I can make sure each panel goes back where it should.

More Clecos installed on all the panels going to be removed at some point during the build.

After bracing up the body I removed the wood flooring.

Next we remove the roof. Well thankfully most of the sides are bolted on which made it easy because every bolt broke. The front and rear are spot welded on and made things more difficult. I chose to fold down the rain gutter to gain access for the panel separator blade which will make for a bunch of hammer and dolly work later on but I need to keep the windshield frame and rear door opening intact at this point.
