lol Dave, my Blazer is in bad need of paint. Maybe I'll try the oil thing just to see what it does. One q about the windex though... wouldn't the ammonia in it mess with the paint after a while?

A buddy of mine wiped his car down with Armor-All once. It actually looked pretty good and lasted a while.
I wonder if you should use non-detergent oil for your "wax job"? I have also heard of an old man that burned himself real bad. My friend that stopped by shortly after he got burned tried to take him to the hospital, but he wouldn't go. He slathered himself in used motor oil and said he'd be fine. A few weeks later, my friend went back there and he looked like nothing ever happened except for the singed eyebrows, lashes, and hair! I think I'd go for the hospital trip, or at least use new motor oil!

this only last through about 2 rains/washings, but something like WD-40 will do the same thing... done it many times on oxidized paint, just expect you rag to be the color of your truck afterwards

When I was in the volunteer fire dept. we used to wash the trucks with a cup of kerosene in with the soap and water.

WD-40 does wonders for oxidized paint. Just does not last. Works great on silver!

give it a fresh coat of oil then giver town a dusty road, see what that looks like, I never heard of oiliner up like that, the only thing I soaked in oil was my vent window rubbers, soaked them for a few days, cleaned them off good and they are soft and look like new even two years later

Actually, I guess someone else needs to go first, or y'all will have to wait a while.
I am planning on putting a flame job on the GMC and as we all know, you can't paint on top of oil... |

I've heard of kerosene to wash with and I've used old oil to coat the inner fenders, doors, bed etc. To prevent from rustin'. I always wouldn't drive for a day or so to keep the dust off.
