have someone apply the brakes loosen the bleeder screw and see how much pressure the brake fluid has and do the same to the other side if they are differant then you know where your problem lies

all this about the calipers and hoses, did anyone think that the propotioning might be bad or stuck? i have a 79 3/4 ton van that had one go bad. when you applied the brakes it would turn right then go straight, when you released the brakes it would try to go left then straight. i changed both rotors, calipers, wheel bearings and still had the problem until i changed the valve.
i know they never go bad, right- but MINE DID!

Re: Well..new tires and alignment, STILL veers violently!! HELP!

clean the caliper mounts every time you remove the calipers. they slide on the resting points and if their is rust or dirt there it will cause the caliper to hangup and drag.

Re: Well..new tires and alignment, STILL veers violently!! HELP!

I had the same thing on a 92 GMC 1500 and it was brake line after I changed everything else. The line was colapsed inside and would not let fluid return to the master making the caliper drag. I would change them both and be done with it.

And the original poster either never found his problem or sold the truck or gave up or just didn't want to finally post what the problem was?

He's not around anymore. I remember reading about his welcome wearing thin as well.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Prop valve works from front to rear. There's a single front line that comes out, and then splits afterward to feed the 2 front corners. Not likely that a prop valve could affect a single side.

And N2TRUX... of course, it's Xmas. We're bored.

Maybe he "Veered Violently" into the path of an on-coming 18 wheeler, or off a cliff, and was never heard from again......

Brakes are not something you half-ass or do on the cheap. I'd rather be able to stop than go any day of the week.
