I was going to suggest using CLR on it but looks like you have already started stripping it. Looks like great steel under that rust.

Re: (1959) fifty niner gmc all orginal survivor first time mods

@KIM

if it were my truck, i would give real consideration to that nice natural patina.
but alas, my broke ass aint making the final call on finish.
im hoping to deliver the truck in any color of matte finish, i dont care which one blue black orange white yellow i prefer a matte factory color thats not granny blue.
im pushing to leave the fleetside missile in bare metal with clear coat.
it makes the truck look armed.

Re: (1959) fifty niner gmc all orginal survivor first time mods

here are some pics of last nights small progress.
not much to see except for the really nice factory paint.
this is a light wipe with a paper towel and just breaking a few bolts loose for tomorrows big session.

Re: (1959) fifty niner gmc all orginal survivor first time mods

used the bad weather as an excuse not to go over to the shop.
truth is i was wiped out from double shifts this week and wanted to be fresh for my first full day on the truck.
slacker.
so nothing to report.
did select some cool front of the motor stuff and finally identified the block too.
70-85 truck 350 4 bolt main.

Tuesday just cleaned up shop area after teardown.
We'd just stripped paint and ran truck errands.
Tonight doing engine inspection and some hole filling.
