I imagine the 59 still has its original 1.1 liters "power" plant with a whooping ±36 HP. Got to love those Bugs, specially the short throw shifter. Been there done that.

Re: 1970 beetle
The 59 is all original. It has the 1200 cc motor. But yes. 36 hp.

Re: 1970 beetle
When I was a little kid, my cousin had a '73/'73 baby blue Beetle...That car stuck in my memory for years, then two years ago I picked up a '67 for a steal ($1200)...'71 1600 DP engine, pans replaced, new tires, door panels, and carpet...All it needs is seats reupholstered and body/paint work...Even rough looking, it gets TONS of stares and whenever I drive it, somebody strikes up a conversation, talking about "the one I had"...lol..

Re: 1970 beetle
Looks like another good one. Just a few more and we'll need a Beetle section here.

Re: 1970 beetle
That is a nice looking beetle. I had a 67 but it was stolen and stripped down when I lived in az. It looks nice. I wish I had a duel port motor. It really opens up the possible carb selection.

Re: 1970 beetle
I did a 70 bug before I got my truck.
Started as a baja, I made it back to street, chopped the top, and did lots of otherlittle fun stuff, the hippie headliner being one of my favorites: ![]() ![]() |

Re: 1970 beetle
Brother 68 and my 70.
Might be time to relive my youth. My black car had 2110cc with 44 webers. Quick little bastard. Best story is I outran a 80's c10 with a big block. He couldn't believe it and I couldn't stop smiling.. Ha |

Re: 1970 beetle
They both look good. I just bought a engine case to start building a 2180 or 2276. My current engine is poring out with every oil change.
