Re: vintage crash photo C10 vs camaro

I really don't think it was a red-light issue. but who knows. Looks like it is winter time (jackets, dead grass, no leaves on trees), but I'd guess the south, (vette in the back, lack of snow). I think it is on an express way or highway (big overhead sign, shoulder), maybe even near an exit ramp. Also, I think we are only seeing a small portion of the overall accident. Looks like there are more cars on the other side of the Camaro. Also, looks like everyone is looking in the same direction. Maybe this is an ongoing wreck. The ground looks dry, but my guess would be slick roads and a chain reaction. I'm not even sure that the truck hit the Camaro. Look how far back the front end is pushed back. Whatever it hit, (or hit it), it was a hard impact.

That truck is from the local VFD and is there in response to the accident. It got messed up at the last pancake breakfast that went into the night when a rookie was sent out for more beer...and pancakes

Are we even sure the truck hit the Camaro? some of that damage looks old plus the hood is already tied down?

Re: vintage crash photo C10 vs camaro

Both vehicles were heading in the same direction. The camaro took a hit to the left front corner, probably as a result of a left turn on red. As a result is started to spin counterclockwise, it was at this point the truck nailed the left rear, and continued its spin. Before the truck hit the car, he was already on the brakes, causing the vehicle to nose dive, hence the rolled hood, and also steering towards the shoulder, which allowed him to miss the pole. The vette seeing this happen in front of him bailed out earlier and got way off the road. The other possibility was the truck driver, was busy texting, and when he looked up he saw the camaro. As an evasive maneuver he hit the brakes and steered towards the shoulder. The camaro started to spin, then the lady dring a minivan, that was behind the truck, who was also texting, while putting on make-up realized this too late and hit the front of the camaro pushing it past the pole and onto the shoulder.

Re: vintage crash photo C10 vs camaro

Man I was trying to visualise all that till I read the texting part , you know captain kerk and dr spok were the only ones with texting capability at that point in time ? Also you have to remember Elvis was still alive when this happened one of the drivers could have spotted Elvis going by ? That could have caused every bit of this ? Unless captain kerk or dr spok owned either the truck or camaro ? We can only hope that someone involved with the scene of the accident will see this post and tell us what really happened ?

The Corvette color is "corvette bronze". It's kinda of a dark metallic pink and wasn't very popular.

That explains why the Vette pulled way down there

I thought it might be an emergency vehicle, but the absence of a gumball machine on the roof, FD lettering on the door, and the presence of a pipe rack killed it. The only EMT on that rig is the conduit.

So was HO70 pulling our legs, or did he in fact get insurance company data?

Re: vintage crash photo C10 vs camaro

Clearly its a multi-car pile up on a freeway. The way the road is built up higher than the surrounding ground means interstate. Following the pattern of the street lights also lets you know there aren't any adjacent roads connecting to it near by. Notice the other car turned the wrong way just to the right of the passenger wing window of the Camaro, that indicated multiple vehicles.

And yes, that is was Elvis parked on the side of the road in the Corvette. Clearly the girl was very hot to cause a crash like this, and to cause Elvis to step out of the Passenger door rather than the driver.

Re: vintage crash photo C10 vs camaro

UPDATE: I got a pm from a board member that owned the truck its a 67 he still has it he says the guy in the camaro hit him , the guy in the camaro was driving backward's and rear? Front? Ended him , he is looking for a driver's side front fender but he is not a supporting board member so he asked me to see if anyone had a fender for sale ? He asked me to keep his idenity a secret in fear of retaliation from the camaro driver because the camaro driver got a ticket and it raised his insurance ,

Re: vintage crash photo C10 vs camaro

P.S. The hole you think you can see that looks like a park light on the front fender of the truck is a hole punched in by the camaro bumper ,,,, it was an easy mistake to make , the truck driver also told me that he was not texting but he was talking on his new cb radio and trying to change an 8 track at the same time which took his concentration away long enough to allow tbe camro to hit him , oh and it was a pink floyd 8 track

Notice that people that werent involved in the crash actually are at the scene assisting and not just driving by staring? That for sure places it in the 60's-70's
