Question: Old short water pump has fitting for return line from heater core. New long pump does not have provisions for this. How have folks when installing a long water pump solved this issue? On my 88 the return goes to the cool side of the radiator but the 65 radiator does not have a fitting. I am tempted to just go buy a radiator with a return fitting but want to see what other options are available.

Working on mounting the new CPP master cylinder and Booster today. Looking at how the CPP bracket works it looks like I have to modify the pedal assembly bracket, Firewall and possibly the location the rod attaches to the pedal. I took a look at Captainfab's bracket and it looks like it will make most of the problems go away. We have PM him to confirm. Here are pictures of the mods needed

There is a port on the passenger side of your 350 engine, just forward of the starter where you can run your return from the heater core. That may be an easier fix than a whole new radiator.
I opted out on this routing due to using rams horn exhaust manifolds.

Mine was routed there becuase of a circulating water heater for winterization, which for up here in central Alaska is pretty key installment.

Thanks for the reply. I think I found a water pump with a port I can use. I just changed the pump on my 88 and it has a port that has a plug in it on the top of the pump. I will swap pumps and put a hose barb on the port. It should work.

I was in Fairbanks this time last year and do not envy you the cold.

To solve the issues with the CPP bracket on the Master Cylinder booster I bought the CaptainFab bracket. I will have to shorten the adjuster 3/8 of an inch but I did not have to modify the parking brake bracket or the firewall. The CaptainFab bracket saved a lot of time. Nice piece.

With the master cylinder project in hand we installed the engine and the cab. The truck is starting to look like a truck again. Sadly I have to go work next week and will be gone for 2-3 weeks. Next up when I return is Vintage Air, Steering Column, finish up serpentine system and start installing Ron Francis wiring kit. I still have to order fuel tank (David Boyd) and radiator fan (Cooling Components).

As I said before the Captainfab brake booster bracket was a nice piece and saved a lot of time. Another vendor I found through this site was the Gennie Shifter. What a great shifter. Very simple so little to go wrong. On top of that when I had a small problem during installation they immediately provided parts and advise. I cannot say enough about their support, and yes they are still in business.

Great looking project. What did you use on the cab floor? Looks like raptor liner? Can't go wrong with CaptainFab's stuff.

1 kit did the bottom and the floor. 2 for the bottom and two for the floor. i am going to buy another kit for inner fenders and bed sides.

I saw the threads also and thought it was a good idea. I am even more impressed with the results. I am planning on using it for inner fenders and inside of bed sides also.

The other performance vehicle is a bit of a sled. It take about 3/4 of a mile to top 140 MPH, she weighs 64,800 with full tanks and cruises at about 450 MPH give of take. She is a classic built in 1972.

Well parts are stacking up at home and I am in Greenland (-15F). the CPP steering column, Vintage air Compressor and several other smaller items have come since I left. Hopefully I will get back into gear in a week or two.

We are still in Greenland soaking up the warmth. Should be able to go home next week and pick up where we left off. I have now ordered the Dakota VHX gauge package and the crimper for the Vintage Air air conditioning lines. The Admiral wants to spend a few days at the beach and Carlyle is at the end of the month so things will be busy for a while. Hopefully by the end of summer we will be ready for paint.

Well I have been back from Greenland about a month. We are making progress on systems and getting things ready to be operational. We have modified and installed the brake linkage and installed a cable operated accelerator pedal. We went to Spring Carlisle and bought items to push the project forward. Picked up a set of Mickey Thompson Valve covers, inside door panels (The Arizona truck guy was very helpful), HEI distributor, wires, wire looms, etc.

We are waiting (5 weeks so far) on the Dakota instrument panel. When we receive that, with all teh engine sensors, we will get serious about wiring. We have a Ron Francis kit but also have to include items like Vintage air Kit, torque converter lock up circuit, Cooling components Electric fan and any of the other add on items I install. We still have to order the Boyd fuel tank and start working on the bed.
