Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw headers in the pic if the motor.
The other thought I had was a ground off cam lobe.

Yeah I'm pretty sure. It is very clearly a tapping that's been isolated to the #8 intake valve. I've tightened the nut until the point the engine bogs down and it will improve slightly then after about 5 seconds it will revert back to an obnoxious ticking.. Oh well, I'll just replace all the lifters and hope that it's good to go from there. Hopefully the cam is good as well

While you have the valve cover off, pour some Marvels Mystery Oil down the pushrod, let it soak a couple hours, then see if whatever is not working starts working again...worth a try.
