Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
Got final inspection this morning. Ya for me!!!
Then I discovered a new problem. The air horn on the Q-jet is warped. Secondaries will open, but then they get stuck open and flood the engine. I pulled it apart. There's a good 1/8" warp in it. PO or someone who he had working on the carb didn't know what they were doing.

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
Update! Got the washers working. I found a set of nozzles that would mount under the cowl on the hood.
Next problem was the carburetor. The secondaries were sticking open. There's a plug at the end of the airhorn casting that was pushed in to far and binding on the secondary shaft. Hit the shaft with a drift punch and problem solved. Then I went to work on the shifting issues. TH350. I don't know transmissions, so I had the local transmission shop take it for a test drive. He said it felt like the governor wasn't working. Found a clean 350 at the junk yard and pulled the governor and put it in mine. Now it shifts like new. $5.00 fix.

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
So, Apparently there were more problems in the transmission then just a bound up governor. Took the truck up on the freeway and the trans went South on me. Had to limp it home in first gear at 5 MPH.

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
How big a deal is it to swap a 4L60E Transmission in to my 77?
I just found this on-line for $200.00 >>> http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218...arch=&ad_cid=2

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
I sold another set of blueprints. ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/181106496401...84.m1561.l2649 )
It's not much, but every little bit helps when you're on a budget. Now I can put that towards parts.

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
Just wanted to say good luck on your truck build. Keep at it and do what you can and when you can and it will get done. Your blueprints look great, good luck on selling more. You are inspiring to say the least when it comes to truck builds.

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
My dad and my friend Chris went to the wrecking yard today and got another transmission for my 77 C10. A 4L60 out of a 1990 GMC 3/4 ton van. I'm trying to figure out the code numbers (3BWM434211) I know the "3" is for 1993 and the "M" is for 4L60, but I'm not sure about the "WM" part.
I got it complete with a TV cable, torc converter, Dip stick and tube. But the best part was the sticker on the bell housing. It was a GM re-manufactured transmission.

Re: My new build thread. 1977 C10 shotry
Update! I finely got all the parts for the re-build on the 4L60. Got it torn down and washed the case. This is going to be an upgrade build. Borg Warner clutches, steels and band. Sonax sun shell. Upgraded sprag clutches, Torington bearings and wide bushings. New separator plate and valve body upgrades. 10 vane pump and hardened steel pump rings.
I'm following the steps in this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...36#post6740236 Cudos to clinebarger for doing an excellent job here.
