Re: Question....valve covers
This could be a long shot... but here goes.
If you have the valve covers without the Chevrolet script on them it is easy to install the valve cover UPSIDE DOWN! Stock valve covers have a high and low side. If they are upside down, the rocker(s) will contact the underside of the cover. If you just leave the cover that way and drive it like the PO did for this truck you WILL get shiny spots... or worse. Look to make sure the valve cover is installed correctly. POP

Re: Question....valve covers
Place the cover back on and fire the engine up, go out and rest your hand on the cover, move it around and see if you feel the tapping with your hand, if you do feel the tapping shut the engine off and flip the cover 180 and try again, if it is hitting the tapping would be harder where its hitting
Per the valve adjustment, there is an assembly procedure in the repair manuals that tells you that at a certain crank position on whatever cylinder which valves you can adjust and it minimizes the time you have to spend doing the assembly work, but it boils down to having the valves being fully closed (rocker completely up, low part of the cam lobe) tighten the nut while spinning the push rod with your fingers until the push rod won't spin, then tighten it an additional 1/4-1/2 turn. Then when running back the rocker nut off until you hear it tick, then re tighten until the tick stops and go an additional 1/2 turn to preload the pushrod on the lifter

Re: Question....valve covers
Ok yall, I did just about everything yall told me to, it seems the tapping has gotten louder just to spite me. I took it to my mechanic yesterday. I had planned on taking it anyways, so that he could figure out my brake issue. Just seemed that every time I was ready to take it in, something else went wrong. Ill update soon.
Thanks again!! junk
