Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Thanks Tom aka ttlr74! He had a core 250 with a good cylinder head so the integral one can come off and after this one is hot tanked, blasted (thanks again Tom) it will head to the machine shop, get installed on the engine along with some headers and most likely a Clifford manifold. Getting closer

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Back from round 1 with my pinstripe buddy. Found too many passenger side curb slides against the runnong boards hidden under the roll on bedliner to be able to powdercoat them. Hammer and dolly time and a few more eves after work and i will just spray them. Wheels should be done on saturday along with tires on the ups truck. Laying under the truck pulling the boards I was amazed the condition of the inner panels pn this thing. Super rust free, not even oxidation. Last pic makes me wish the dropped axle was here!

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Ordered them through motorspot. 225/75/15 radials.
Finally finished the running boards, hung some gate chains, basic maintenece stuff and now overhauling the interior. Rained today and didn't miss the bike, or at least that's what I've been telling myself. Dogs seem to like the truck and the truck likes to hit the drive in for milkshakes

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Rose City Round up was a great show. I fell in love with a 46 burb and spent the afternoon talking with the owner. Didn't make it back in time for the local cruise. Wife drove the 50 to breakfast on Sunday and hates it hahaha. Can never make her happy unless its a 5 speed tire burning rice rocket. Oh well, as long as she keeps letting me drag the Chevy's home!
Documentation video. My interior guy worked me like a chineese teenager in his sweat shop Sunday and I was able to get a couple covers sewn up for the seat. I built up the inner structure and spent about 4 hours from start to finish. Recieved the new gauges and some running board step plates on the brown truck too. Next job, swapping the entire drivetrain. I wish it was fall and cool out here. We go from rain and cold to 95 and 100% humidity. A float down the river sounds waaaaay better than an engine , trans, rr end swap! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msty2CZGFUI

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
ok, now i'm confused. Your location says Oregon, but there is a Washington plate on the blue truck. What gives ? Inquiring minds want to know .....
Otherwise, a real nice looking truck. |

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Nice looking truck, Newfisher. No lump port on the new head? I like the Mexican blanket interiors, add a lot of color.

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Thanks Eagle.
The mexi is removable and will reveal the black door panel in a bout 10 seconds if a change was wanted. No lump ports on this one. Don't have the swirl valves, big cam, valve train etc that the Burb has so didn't think the lumps would benifit too mch.

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Ambition strikes again. Out with the old system and in with the new. I forgot how tight the 250 is in the compartment front to rear. Got alot done yesterday and back at it this morning. Setting the drive angle and burning in the crossmember, finishing up the carb conversion, wiring etc. before it gets into the 90s again. Picked the worst weekend for heat out here.

Re: What else would you buy if you sold your Harley
Picked up a webber 32/36 set up from GnRs57GMC (thanks Glen)! And am adapting it to the 250 in a 50 which has been challenging figuring out which bellcrank(s) to use and what throttle rods. A cable sounds easy but the carb is a push up style and a cable doesnt lay well near the manifolds to ease the mind from a burned throttle cable down the road. I think ive collected enough scrap yard Chevy truck parts from various years over a couple lunch hours that I can start assembling it tomorrow after work.
Going to be another scorcher this weekend. Hope to get the rear end conversion and the rest of the wiring done for starter, hei and 6 to 12v done. Getting closr to have a great reliable freeway cruising daily driver back on the road!
