Re: 1972 "I'll finish this one, I promise" Project

No real update.. But I did go look at a motor yesterday. It's a 2002 5.3(LM7) w/ 4L60e. Waiting for the wrecker yard to get the paperwork straight and I get to pick it up.

And then, got some Adam's to keep my frame & daily looking good!

Re: 1972 "I'll finish this one, I promise" Project

Been hustling today.. Right at 450 miles of driving, but well worth it! Picked up a super solid bed, has one bad spot on rear driver side. No dents or filler anywhere. Even the tailgate looks great. Also picked up my 5.3L/4L60e combo today. It came out of a 2002 Tahoe that was wrecked. Looking forward to getting it stripped down, cleaned up and painted.

Nice scores on the bed and LS, I feel you on the drive, I drove almost 500 miles round trip to pick up my LS.

Re: 1972 "I'll finish this one, I promise" Project

Got the engine/trans separated, wire harness removed and front acc. drive removed. Did some cleaning on the motor. Going to take the heads off and have them sonic cleaned, lot a carbon build up.

Re: 1972 "I'll finish this one, I promise" Project

I like the reliability of the LS, but that's me. I seemed to always have carb issues when I had my 350. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the small block Chevy, if it's driven every or most days. But when it's not carb issues with today's gasoline seem to creep in. If you have the LS motor and the means to do the swap that's my vote.

Exactly. I couldn't rebuild a 350 and swap to an overdrive trans for what its going to cost me for this swap. I work a month at a time, there was no way I'm coming home to fight carburetor issues.

That's same thinking I did, the cost to even dress up the small block and change some gaskets, etc, etc. I went for dependable

How come you didn't go to B2B yesterday? Had some nice C10's there and a good mix of vehicles.

Pelican Park in Carencro. He doesn't really promote it though. Are you going to Lone Star Throwdown?
