Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
The power steering box is pretty much universal through the 'square body' series. After '75 (IIRC) the ratio is quicker/faster/better and makes for an easier handling truck. Nice find- looks like it'll clean up easily.

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
I got the tank installed and a new sending unit for it but I'm having a heck of time figuring out how to hook up the eec vent. the tank was mia when we bought the truck and I've never seen an eec tank in truck before. I know the fuel line is missing but he gave me this loop and said it was for the vent and that's all the info I got but it doesn't look like it fits. anyhow anybody have any pic's/info on how to hook it up? thanks

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
The loop goes up the passenger side beside the tank. From the tank to the loop and the loop to the line going down to the floor on passenger side I found a picture of line but not installed.

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
quick update we didn't get it fired up yet(for reason's above) but did a compression test and was 120lbs in all but one cylinder was 80 hopefully just a stuck valve. thought it was pretty good for a motor that hasn't been fired in years. plan on finishing the gas tank install (thanks again) and getting it running today (i'll try to video it if I can).

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
thanks again I got it hooked up the fuel line is still mia so I ran a temporary rubber line over to the frame so we can fire it up. thankfully we have a very large 67-72 salvage yard here so I'm going to grab a real fuel line as soon as momma get's back to watch the 2 year old hopefully be firing her up shortly.

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
so here is the first fire up. excuse the crappy video the wife wasn't going to make it back so my mechanic buddy that's giving her the upgrades came by to help her with the first fire up while I kept an eye on the 2 yr old. as soon as I seen all the smoke start to fly out of it I grabbed him and got him to cleaner air and had to kill the video and like a complete NOOB I was holding the phone wrong.
we left the old oil in it and added a quart of ATF to it to break up the sludge and ran some water threw the carb. it was smoking so bad the entire garage disappeared the neighbors all freaked! once we got it nice and hot I dumped all the oil and put in fresh it appears the smoking is starting to subside. we have no knowledge to the last time this truck has moved under it's own power. really amazed it is firing with the click of the key and other than fresh oil all we did was put in new plug's. Once we are sure the bottom end is solid we are going to put in the hei and aluminum intake and 4bbl

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
the po cut up the harness pretty bad so I'm replacing the harness and upgrading the truck to full inst panel instead of the 3 pod and I noticed the below item was already disconnected and (probably due to old age) forgot/have no idea what it is. any ideas? thanks

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
couple of other questions
1. what is the adapter I need to thread the oil pressure line into the block 2. does the idiot light for temp hook up to the fuse block in the same location as the wire for temp gauge? 3. do I need to do anything to make the alt. gauge work? I replaced the dash harness with one from a full inst truck replacing the 3 pod harness that was butchered. nothing has been changed in the engine bay

Re: My Daughter's 72 just made it home
If u buy a oil pressure line kit from a parts store or a auto meter one from summit it will have all the fittings u will need. I probably have what u need and will be up in a week from monday. Post a picture and I will dig up what ya need. Only a 570 mile delivery.
