Umm why yes officer, ya see what we are trying to prove here is.....

OrrieG, I agree in colder areas you def need more antifreeze, we might get one night below freezing here in Phoenix. I usually drain off some fluid and beef up on antifreeze around November. Just watch because I said that this year I will forget.....

I do have good news to report. It was only 102 on the drive home today but I intentionally drove around a bit running some errands. Not one hint of vapor lock and no fluid escaping past the cap.

I do think your right on the gauge though OrrieG, for some reason I don't think it reads right at temperature.

do you think the 3 line pump was your fix? or something else you did?

i had to google the 3 line pump

Thats a good question. My PS exhaust was much closer to my fuel line that I thought. ~6-8 inches for a good 4 foot long run. I am pretty sure most of the heat soak was happening along this area. No doubt a properly insulated 2 line pump would have worked but I didn't want to purchase an additional pump if it didn't. Decided to do everything at once. I also didn't know how old that original fuel pump was and since it was not supplying sufficient fuel at WOT, it got the boot.

FYI, my 3 line pump looks like the 2 line you posted, just with a return line. Not sure whats up with the elongated pump style you posted.

I would just like to say thank you to everyone who helped with this issue. I now have one less thing on my truck that can kill me
