Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today

You guys asked for more!! Ask and you shall receive. Took the old guy camper off today. From all the parts I have collected over a 25 year span the rear bumper will be replaced next with a factory sport bumper, then front bumper, grill and wheels.

Very cool...
Yes it was a long bed with some taken off the front, it is 6 1/2' just like a regular short bed but it is not the same measurements front and back like a regular short bed. The frame was extended some and the front of the bed was shortened some. I will have to get an exact measurement of both. I may or may not replace the bed with a regular short bed but will have to extend the frame more and shorten the frame at the rear.

The gauge is a mileage monitor gauge it must work off vacuum. It tells you if you mileage is poor, fair, good, engine at idle and engine decelerating. I will probably remove this at some point.

Removed the gaudy looking rear bumper, overload springs, spare tire and spare tire carrier to make room for the factory sport bumper and receiver hitch(not installed yet).

It has coil springs all the way around. It had factory installed leaf overload springs on the rear probably due to the six man cab and most being built for utility companies, railroad, forest service or military heavy duty use.

I could be busy for months working on trucks at your place! With as many as you have and if your wife is like mine, I would hate to see her shoe, purse and Victoria Secret bill!

yote1234,

I found this '66 Crew Cab in Wickenburg, Arizona. There is another Crew Cab in the area from Clarkdale only one mile from Cottonwood the guy that owns it is a member here 65crewcab. I have talked with him several times about his Crew Cab he did most of the work himself including installing a 5.9 Cummins and an Allison automatic transmission. I think it is pretty awesome having two of these rare trucks so close to each other in the Verde Valley. See 65crewcab's pictures below.

when you get around to it, I would like to see the measurements of the wheelbase, the rear door, and the bed side... also good pics of the center hinge pillar , front of the rear door (in the jamb) and the hinges!
thanks for all the pics so far!
