Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

I think the 67 auto column shift indicator was more round than the other years at the back of it.
Wasn't there a year the column indicator housing was metal?
Were 67 seat belts mentioned yet.
67-8 core supports have a splash pan on the bottom of them.
67-8 fuse Blocks are orientated 90 degrees as opposed to other years.
Radio delete trucks had radio delete cowl panels and I think no antenna hole in firewall
67-8 windshield and rear window trim is skinner than newer years

I hope I helped the cause...
Mike

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

I beleive the stamping on a 67 tailgate different then a 70-72. The 67 didn't have a lip at each edge. Can't tell now I sold mine last year but it was all original and I found that out from this sight also. Went to check my 67 vs my 72 and it was correct.

Since nobody has specified 1/2 tons to 1 tons only, small back windows were available through '72.

That's how both '67 & '68 were. It came with the side trim.

You can take a bolt out and lean the seats forward, but the way the original upholstery wraps to the bottom it won't allow folding. Does it have the original or an original type cover?

There's plenty to be not sure about, that's for sure. My problem is,for everything I learn it seems I'll get unsure of something I already knew. Like '68 front trim, whether every truck got it or just Customs and CSTs. I'll have to look at pictures because I questioned myself.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

I don't know if this considered relevant or important or not, but the 1968 and (some 1969?) years had the larger journal crank 327 as where before 1968 they only had a small journal crank 327.

Plus, only a handful of these were factory ordered with the 300 HP version, mine just happened to be one of them.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

That's a good one. It's a true '68-only item,327 large journal. It's the 010 block used for the first SS350 Camaro (350hp) in '68 as well. Forged crank and higher nickle alloy block.

Before I replaced the heads, when I purchased spark plugs and oil filters, I had to use the camaro or nova specs as that when I had used the truck specs those parts were all wrong.

I believe also that 67-68 had steel air boxes on firewall for heat and 69-72 were plastic also the foot print was different.

1970 1/2 ton 2wd rear axle was one year only being the same width as 71/72 but still being 6 lug like 67-69.

Anyone mention about the 67 frame not having the indent for a power steering gear?

But a 76 2wd half ton would be 5 lug, not 6 lug like the 70.

Here's the tie rod bracket used to secure the 72-only steering stabilizer for K-model (4wd) applications. The Dana 44 axle for 72 had a bracket for the other end I believe is not present on preceding model year Dana 44s.

I forgot about the '72 K-series steering stabilizers. Did anyone mention the '72 step bumper?

Not sure if anyone mentioned the rearview mirror raised pad on one of the years trucks... I think it was 71? Someone correct me!
