You can buy a leak down tester cheap or rent one at autozone i think i would just buy one .Put the cyl you want to test on top dead center screw the fitting in the plug hole leaving all other spark plugs in the motor and hook up you air hose and pressurise the cyl and see if your valves are leaking or if you have a cracked head or bad head gasket etc.If you have never done it Google it or go to youtube .Good luck.

You can get a simple leak test kit for ~$50. You also need an air compressor, they range from about $100 for not a very good one up to as much as you care to spend. You can also probably rent one for $50/day. Its possible your auto parts store can rent you the leak down tester for free.

Yes I posted my compression test results and no I don't have a "Leak Down Tester"! Why you ask? Because I'm on a tight budget! That's also why I drive a 1973 Chevy truck!
