Re: TBI Fuel Pressure

I am still going to run the tests tomorrow to be certain but I think I may have it figured out finally. Today after finally putting the left tank back in I was under the hood while it was running to make sure there were no leaks after reinstalling the regulator and it died on me. My buddy was sitting in the truck watching the fuel pressure and it didnt move from 19psi however both fuel injectors stopped spraying abruptly at the same exact moment. Like they were shutoff. I know its not the computer cause i swapped it with the other two I have and it still happened. I am suspecting the ICM. I have an MSD distributor and had contacted them on Tuesday just to see what they would say and without hesitation they said it was the ICM and would replace the assembly for free since mine is only a few months old. The replacment ICM's have tye pickup wires soldered to them so i can no longer remove it and have it tested. Because of this I am considering getting a new oem style replacement distributor just for its simplicity if anything. I will verify what i can tomorrow just wanted to share what i found so far.

Re: TBI Fuel Pressure

Well after endless testing yesterday and getting nowhere. I went off a hunch. Went down to our local pick n pull since they were havin a 33% off sale and managed to find 93 chevy truck that had a clean remanufactured gm distributor in it. I swapped out the MSD distributor for the pick n pull distributor this morning. So far, no problems. It has started quicker as well. So it appears that there was indeed something wrong with the msd replacement pick up and icm. Would have found that out sooner if MSD had not soldered the wires to the module making it to where it couldnt be tested!! Im just glad to have my truck running right again. Thank you for your help rf master. You were a big help on everything and learned so much from this.
