Re: Is this cab worth saving? RUST

If you do replace a cab, do you have to re-register the truck with the VIN from the new cab?

Easier to cut the jamb post out with the VIN plate on it and weld it into the new cab.

Easier.... probably,
more importantly- legal.... no.

This topic has been gone over many times and always leads to reprimand from the moderators due to ideas like these. There's also those involved in law enforcement that don't appreciate seeing this kind of advice. It's always best to steer clear of these kind of comments, even if it is just an innocent statement.

I would agree with others ... that cab is to to far gone IMHO. Buying a replacement cab is the way to go

Do it... They are all worth saving if you are capable of welding...

Re: Is this cab worth saving? RUST

I just tried to look at the link for the cab that was for sale and its deleted. Did someone here buy it? just curious . As far as fixing that old cab that's a ton of work and if it looks that bad on the surface there's worse stuff you wont see till you start cutting into it. I've done a few of these cabs over and even at $1500 or more if you can find a good one you cant even pay for your time at that rate forget the cost of all the sheet metal that will have you pulling your hair out when it wont fit right.
