do a internet search on 6 cylander performance....weed through the crap and refine it etc you will find a few people selling straight 6 performance stuff, you can actually get a I6 up fairly high in hp and even higher in torque

I'll see if I can find some for you.

I have seen a blown chrysler Ig dynoed at 426 hp.

here's my 250. currently selling it for $500 with the 3 spd manual tranny included but no bites yet. People have been telling me that it's cheap but no takers. I'll be putting it in the local paper soon. Hopefully can sell it soon. BTW, got an LT1 and 4l60e on the side as a replacement.

passthebuck: what gets the oil bath? the incoming air or your valve cover?

Mine used to have that option but it got junked for reasons unknown.

I'm finally going to crack into my 292 this weekend (I hope) and see if it's a horse that needs shootin or fixin.

thats the 100% truth canada20 - it aint much fun having the oilbath aircleaner... I'm looking for a regular aircleaner. It looks different though.

HEI?

I didn't think it was an HEI. I've always been under the impression that it's an electronic ignition, but not actually HEI. Is HEI technically any pointless ignition, regardless of whether or not the coil is actually ON the distributor or not?

Is an overslung worth that much? :p

I am keeping this one, it looks cool IMO, I will keep my eye out for others though.

The overslung air cleaner was used with power brakes because the booster is to big and the stock air cleaner would not fit.

Think way back to a great tv show.

Orange car, co-start with really tight short-shorts

Maybe that is why I am strongly thinking of chaning my mind on the paint job to come.

Originally was going a deep metallic purple, but I am now leaning towards the Hugger orange with possible a nice metallic flake in it or a pearl added to it. Then the horn would suit the truck, lmao.

Here's my ex 250. It was punched out with an Offy 4bbl intake. Had a small Holly 4bbl, pertronix module in the dizzy and had split header. With glasspacks you could hear it coming a mile away. Tied with a 3-speed and posi 4.11 gears, talk about a fun little setup. Too bad it blew up.

GMC69: I'm lucky, my truck's already orange; matches rust pretty well When I can, it's going to get an original colour re-paint for the reasons you describe....I might even try and find some of them funky horns you got there

As for my 6cyl; I think I'm going to pronounce it dead. Not that easy a decision after seeing some of the nice buildups on this page but if anyone needs parts....(not trying to jack the thread, just giving a heads-up)

Greg

Here's a picture that I have of a restored 235 (with a 216 valve cover).

I'm working on a 261 that will look the same to put in my 1960 Chev Apache 3/4 ton 4x4. I'm not sure about the correct color for a 230, 250, or 292 in later model trucks like yours.

Some other resources to try might be stovebolt.com and inliners.org

Hope this helps.
