When mines done, it'll be a daily. Dropped low, carb and all.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I daily drive my K20, 454, 400 trans, avg about 6-8mpg lol but i'll be damned i love it so much id rather drive this than any newer truck today. Family/friends ask why i dont buy a newer truck, just cant explain the difference why they wont understand.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I drive mine pretty much every day. That Silverado SS in the background turned 10 recently and has 39,000 miles. I seldom drive it because I have the Longhorn.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

When i first put my 68 swb together, it got 9 mpg. It was hard to justify driving it all the time. Since swapping in a 4.8l & 4l85e and all the wiring, i get 17 mpg, and it drives like a dream. I've already been on 3 road trips with it. I went to Chicago and back, getting 16 mpg at a steady 80 mph.

The only time i don't bring the truck is when it's nice enough to ride the motorcycle.

My 68 is a daily to the tune of 4-500 miles a week. Its rusty...has holes...but there is something about these classic trucks!

Re: How many are daily drivers?

My 72 is my daily driver. Has been for about 10 years. Sold a three year old Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 after I bought it. Haven't regretted that decision yet!

Drive it every day, without those funky pipes hanging past the bumper.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Mine is not. It was my driver (or one of them) for the first 20 years and 118,713 miles of its life though. Then it slept in the garage for 21 years prior to the frame off restoration. Now we are both retired and go out to play only occasionally.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

I drive mine everywhere. Probably average 60 miles a day at 14 MPG. My kids don't want to ride in anything else and neither do I.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

When the budget allows for fuel I drive it every day

'71, it's beat up, rusty and a 3OTT but it puts a smile on my face every time.

My HHR does get almost 30MPG, so I usually drive that on the longer trips.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Ellie May is my only transportation, plus I want to drive it to be able to demonstrate and display the work I do in my small business. Just drove it to, all around, and back home from Cruisin' the Coast and it didn't miss a lick!

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Right know my daily driver is my 01 Tahoe or 86 K10 when it is nice out. I am going to sell the tahoe and by an 88 suburban i found with a 350/4speed manual. Probably in about 2 weeks i will most likely have the burb and then it is bye-bye 01 tahoe. My 86 k10 is getting torn down this winter to start a full restoration.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Gas mileage with my 5.3 4L65E and 3:42 gears is around 15-16 in town, I love the Gas Pedal but 27 MPG on the highway, it's great! But like you said "Lighter Truck" I weighed it twice last month and it's 3840 Lbs.

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Drive my 72 K20 everyday...only truck I own outside the wife's rig. In fact it's sitting at the airport right now waiting for me to get home from a work trip. Even put the kiddos in it, they dig it the most!

Re: How many are daily drivers?

Saw a 70 C10 and a 71 Ford PU on the way to work this morning. All slogging to work at 5:30 in the rain within 1/4 block of each other and going the same direction. Pretty cool!
