292 PS

I have made one & someone made this one...lines up right...came off running engine.
These I-6 PS setups are hard to get. Look how long this thread ran with a lot more "wants" than "haves". Trade me something rare, like 72 tow hooks! Then we can talk trade.

I got it to work, put on the correct water pump pulley, one that has 2 grooves in it,cut a little more off the lower bracket that I had, bolted the lower bracket onto the front of the alternator bracket ,another bracket holds the pump onto the lower bracket, and I fabricated a brace that bolts on the front of the head too the front of the pump.

Need to make 1 more brace from the head to the back of the pump to make it more sturdy.

I ran it for a few minutes and all was fine

I will post some pics when all done.

Here are the brackets I have. I only have a partial set for the ps bracket (shown on the left). Quite honestly, I'd rather keep looking and sell a complete set for the ps brackets. I just thought I'd show what I have.

The AC brackets are shown on the right. Those aren't for sale unless I got an unholy amount for them, lol. I may want them down the road.

hmmm....,looks like it's time for me to comb through the boneyards here again; PS setups seem pretty common in Calgary. I've found several at Pick Your Part. (I'd offer the ones I have in my basement but I'm not sure if I'm keeping my I-6 yet or not)

Anyone know anything about the PS brackets that look like they're basically modified alternator backets? IIRC the PS pump gets put where the alternator usually goes and it get moved up a bit....

I KNOW they exist because I took 2 sets off of 2 trucks last summer I'm just looking for info about them. I intend to sell but I don't want to hand over a box full of parts and tell the buyer to deal with it themselves.

These are the 250 PS brackets I have. The ones on the right came from an early 70's Nova, the middle brackets came off a 73 Van and the left bracket came off a early 70's C-10. The Nova and Van brackets are different than the factory 67-72 PS brackets but will work. The Nova and Van used a triple groove pulley system with the PS running on the outer most groove. The middle groove was used for A/C (Nova) or Air Pump (Van). As you can see from the pictures the Nova used a smaller diameter pulley (not sure why). I was going to put PS on my 70 C-10 but got a new manual box off e-bay for $40 and plan on keeping manual steering. I have not test fitted these brackets yet and would like to do so before I sell them to ensure proper operation. I sold a set of brackets (I did not have the pulleys at the time) to Brad a few years ago and I believe he got them to work. Hopefully this weekend I will have time to play with them and make sure they work OK and then I will post a price and go from there.

thats interesting JJR & thanks for the pic - the aftermarket has ignored (almost) the six so we gotta do it for ourselves!

I have been making VERY regular trips to my local wrecker & I've found tonnes of PS brackets for integrated L6 engines but zero for non-intregrated. I'm sure many are looking still for brackets on this post - ttt

It's integrated manifold/ head.

The later inline sixes had the intake manifold permanently cast to the cylinder head. There was no way to remove it. These heads are undesireable for that reason.

my power steering/alternator bracket looks like the one on brads post, on the left side.
i was told it came off a 68 pickup but it could have been on something else before that. i like it because it has the upper adjustment point for the alternator made on it. the lower pivot point for the alternator looks like the pivot point bracket on some v-8's.
oh, also you may want to contact mother truckers, i got my ac bracket from him. i think he said that he had a few more laying around there, and he is a super guy to do business with.

Just wanted to let y'all know I test fitted my brackets/pulleys on my 70 C10 w/250 and everything bolted up/lined up fine. I used a PS pump I got off a 70 C10 with a V8. I also borrowed a pump from a friend that came off a mid 70's Pontiac (teardrop shaped) and was able to get it to work also. You may need a new upper radiator hose to clear the pump. My brackets are not the ones used on 67-72 trucks (see picture in previous post) but were used on passenger cars and later model trucks/vans not having integrated heads. They will work, they are just not period correct (did not know if this was important to you or not). I was going to ask $65 plus shipping for the brackets and pulleys. I have two complete sets. One set is ready to go, the other I want to sandblast again and paint (should have ready by Friday). As mentioned, I was going to convert mine to PS but got a NOS manual box off e-bay cheap so I am going to keep manual steering. Shoot me a PM if interested.
