Re: Foolish to think I can find a hugger orange tailgate?

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of the finished project after yesterday. New tailgate, swapped the step bumper for a sport bumper, and put on a hidden hitch. Will put on the tailgate trip and Chevrolet letters soon.

Thanks for the link, 1972BlueC20. That one looked a bit more red. But really appreciate your help.

Jeff, do you know the paint code of your truck? I think my truck was originally that color and I'm interested in shooting that color on the re-spray
I did end up getting the paint code from the painter. He gave me the can with a little bit left in it. Looks like it's 2084.

Wasn't me, Jacob822. I just had this post here on the forum. Absolutely, happy to stay in touch and keep an eye out for you. On that note, do you have any junkyards that you like?

I wish I saw this yesterday, JRE. I would have joined for sure. Even though I was up to my elbows in the hidden hitch project. Do you guys have meetups often? If so, please let me know and I'll definitely join.

I frequent pick n pull south on foster, however there are rarely any of our trucks there. I keep up to date on inventory on row52.com its a great tool. Shoot me a PM some time if you ever need help finding stuff in town I've made some great connections.

Are you going to eventually paint the letters, or leave it as is? It looks sharp with that sport bumper!

Thanks! I'm going to use the white Chevrolet stickers on it. Hopefully they'll look good enough. And I'll put new top trim on.

But the tailgate's shot. It works, but it's fully bowed out. The PO, let some heavy weight stuff slide into it and bend it out.

Ideally, I could find a decent tailgate in hugger orange so that I'm not forced to paint anything soon if I choose not to.

What are the odds of that?

Thanks,
Jeff
A trip to your local finish master will solve your problem. Take any tailgate, do the prep, spray it hugger orange and then your problem is solved. Who wants a rusty, dented up truck?

Re: Foolish to think I can find a hugger orange tailgate?

Wow, youve done a great job here, your tailate looks awesome!! This is great reference for me as I am in a similar situation as you, I was wanting to know what a new tailgate would look like against the original paint on the rest of my truck, but this looks great!! Thanks!

I have a excellent original paint green one in my rafters that I picked up a couple years ago for a $100...Theyre definitely out there.

Re: Foolish to think I can find a hugger orange tailgate?

I actually have a spare that came with the truck... its gold in colour but its in very good shape with no rust... I would definately trade it for an orange one if I found one in decent shape. Or I may decide to go ahead and have it painted up nicely, I thought it might look funny to have a nicely painted tailgate on a truck with original paint... in the mean time I will keep looking. I see there is a for sale section here, I will keep an eye out for what Im looking for. Thanks for the info!
