Re: Tool set, great for a beginner, or for traveling

i used to browse pawn shops. Never saw any great deals on anything. Those guys rape you on both ends it seems because I've pawned tons of stuff for pennies.
I find craftsman tools made in the last 10 years to be the same garbage as china freight. I use Husky tools from Home Depot. Not because they are awesome but because HD is less than a mile from my office and if a tool breaks I just go get another one for free.

Re: Tool set, great for a beginner, or for traveling

When my wife's grandpa passed away, he left us his tool box. Mainly US made brands like Snap-on, SK and Proto, really great tools. I filled the gaps with Williams tools, a Snap-On Industrial brand, made in USA but not quite as expensive. I would NEVER buy a made in China tool, even if they work ok. I just work too hard for my money to just throw it away, plus : a good tool might be expensive at first, but it also is a lasting value I can pass on to my kids.

As my Grandma used to say: "we are too poor to buy cheap stuff." think about it.
