Rainy day. Here's the finished console... Installed the chrome insert plus I added some woodgrain trim... I plan to have woodgrain glove box door and gauge surround

And today's mess... I mean progress... No more cheapo stereo. Nice that the dash is uncut.
I couldn't get the dang ashtray out, it's jerry-rigged in there... Also couldn't get the lighter out... Dash pad almost off... I'll be pulling the cluster next along with it |

The cig lighter just unscrews, if i remember right unplug the wire and just start turning the back side while holding the front. There should be some screws holding the ash tray mount brackets in the back side of the dash

Spent some more time on the dash -- dash pad is out . cluster is now out, although the aftermarket gauges the PO installed are still connected...

also, the fiber optic cable that goes to the cluster was cut...

Also removed the side mirrors and markers / reflectors.
Hopefully next weekend I can get the windows out and the door handles off. Also need to remove the bumpers and the grill Slowly getting it ready for paint!! |

I carefully taped it all off and then scuffed it up for paint.
I refinished the trim because I wanted OEM, but it's pretty time consuming to try and tape it off exactly like the factory I painted it today, first black self-etching primer then SEM Trim Black. I'm anxious to see how it turns out!! |
