Re: "I like your Bronco"
What's even worse, is having it called a jeep!

Re: "I like your Bronco"
I used to get that all the time. I would just say, "No, those are Fords". The early Bronco guys I knew always got the, "Nice Jeep" thing. In the Jimmy I had I got, "Nice Blazer". Now that I have an all tan '85 diesel Jimmy with soft top I get, "Is that a military Blazer?" and I kindly reply, "No, it's better. It's a Jimmy with carpet,a/c, overdrive, and 8-lug axles". Some have said,"Well the military ones were 3/4t and much tougher". There's no arguing with an expert

Re: "I like your Bronco"
Bingo, this happen yesterday. A few friends with my daughter stopped yesterday (college kids). One kids looks out in my back yard and says my dad has a Bronco just like that. I said really, how do you tell the difference between older fords, chevy and jeeps. He says by the color and that is a ford blue. So, I agreed and quickly changed the subject.

Re: "I like your Bronco"
You didn't tell him Ford blue won't stick on a Blazer?

Re: "I like your Bronco"
With the Blazer season approaching soon, I'm sure this will happen to me all summer long again. I'm thinking I'll just play dumb and say, "What's a Bronco?"...

Re: "I like your Bronco"
The sad thing is that soon, younger generations won't even know what a Bronco looks like.

Is it worse if someone says "I like your scout"? I have a relative that keeps saying it. Drives me up the wall.

Re: "I like your Bronco"
Even worst it was facing the house, say no more that 20 yards away, with a big blue chevy bowtie in the grill waving at us.
I just couldn't bring myself to "get it straight" with the young guy. I told the wife a she said, well at least he didn't say, "How much do you want for it!"

Re: "I like your Bronco"
It happened to me once. And my blazer is not even road worthy.
I was towing it on a trailer and stoped to get gas. Pulled in next to a guy in a new expensive looking BMW. Him: cool bronco. You got plans to fix it up? Me: yep. How bout you? You got any plans for your Honda? Him: Honda?!! This is a 2014 BMW bla bla bla..... Me: oh. I'm sorry. Him: that's ok. I can't believe you actually think this is a honda! Me: no, I'm sorry that you own a BMW...... His face turned red and he started cussing like a sailor at me. I just laughed and jumped in my truck and drove off. He was still wavin his arm at me in the rear view mirror.

Re: "I like your Bronco"
I have a buddy that has a 76 Bronco and a 64 Willys Wagon. To get his jabs at me he always asks what I've been doing to my "Bronco" lately or how it's coming along. Just to be the nice guy that I am, I make sure to ask about his "Blazer" and his "Suburban".
I get thumbs up all the time, and I would say about half (in south Alabama) actually call it a Blazer or K5. Most of those who know what it is even know the era and try to guess the year. The other half just ask "What is that?" or "Did you cut the top off that truck yourself?" Then I have to explain what it is and that it was built from truck parts by GM in a factory and came like this from a dealer. LOL. People look at me like I have three heads when I tell them it's a factory full-convertible SUV from the early 70's.

Re: "I like your Bronco"
I've had people if I cut the top off myself on my 1985! Holy cow people, where have you been 1969-1991???
I've answered the is it a bronco question with, "No, Blazer. The first full-size of it's type. The one that forced Ford to follow". I actually always wished GM had followed Ford and built these that size. I've dreamed of building a shrunken K/5 since the '80s. I like the early Broncos and would have had one if it wasn't a Ford. There are plenty of GMs the same size as early Broncos these days, but they use Jeep frames and bodies (with full size axles sticking out)

Re: "I like your Bronco"
Close but still enough to rangle me- I drive a 68 suburban (hey, is that a 3 door?!) and I constantly hear "We used to have a Travelall (international) just like that".
Now I'll begin preparing for the Bronco question-- Thanks for the headsup |
