Re: Tejano 52
I really don't know if this engine and transmission is a good combination but I guess I'll find out it is a 283 Chevy with a 400 turbo transmission

Getting ready to go in, got the right flywheel and I picked up some other parts for the engine last weekend at the swap meet

Re: Tejano 52
gotNthe transmission hooked up to the engine, had a small gap between the torque converter and the flywheel, fix that with a couple washers. Not sure if this is the way it's supposed to be but it seems like it's going to work

Re: Tejano 52
Ok, I've gotta ask. What's the deal with the metallic blue tranny? Not that it matters, I suppose but it'd drive me crazy!

Re: Tejano 52
the transmission was going on my 64 but ended up putting a Powerglide back in it so I had this transmission in the garage and that is why it's painted

Re: Tejano 52
You don't need the washers, just push the converter into the flywheel.

Re: Tejano 52
should I remove that it's about an inch? I'm really not sure if I was supposed to do it or not but it seemed like there was a big space between the torque converter and the Flywheel

Re: Tejano 52
You don't need no inch, more like a 1/8 or a little more won't hurt. Don't space it back to far, the converter needs to go into the crank enough to center it.

Re: Tejano 52
Blanco,
Nice work on the truck so far. Love the Impala also! Sorry that I have no suggestions on your power steering question. I went with the S10 frame conversion, so a whole different set of problems. Keep up the good work! |
