Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Finally we have paint on the blazer. After almost a year I am starting to see progress. It has been a blessing due to the difficulty of finding original GM replacement parts that need to be replaced. I have tried to attach photos but for some reason after they are uploaded the program will not let me close window to get back to post. I'll try to post pictures in another post.

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Thanks. Really torn about what color to paint originally. Didn't know if I wanted to keep original color or change to an Orange color. Turns out the original color looks more like an orange (The SPID shows a red).If you look at the firewall it still has original paint and looks more red, I guess from the time and the elements it turned the color darker. I'm really pleased with the color. I am sticking to the single stage paint ( like it came from the factory) only I am going to have them throw clear on it for protection.

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Are you going to clear the inside or just the outside?

Looks very nice. It also looks like you got yourself a very nice Blazer to start with. Kudos to you for bringing one back to stock.

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Planning on using clear on the inside to give it more protection. I don't have SPID in front of me but,I do remember it showing red or medium red. The faded original paint looked my red. When they buffed the original faded paint it definetly showed orange in it. Hopefully they are going to spray the outside of the truck today. Sent off spare tire holder to be blasted and powder coated. Hopefully have more pictures this week. Not going to get my hopes up.

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Actually now I'm thinking 524 wasn't available in '69

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Are those stock exhaust manifolds? I thought the 4WDs came with center dump ramhorns to avoid hitting the firewall since the engine sits farther back on the frame than a 2WD. If I'm wrong, educate me

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
The mechanic shop put them on temporarily til the correct ones came in. They had them laying around and put them on for protection. The originals were junk.
The body shop sent me a picture today of the truck painted. I will upload them later today. Might have it on the road by summer! |

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
My wife says I'm an ugly crier. After 2 months of research, numerous emails, and numerous phone calls my custom bed panels arrived today after 6 months of waiting......and they're wrong!!! Shipped my originals to the upholstery shop ( 40.00 to ship) explained to them I need them duplicated exactly. Their response no problem but, it won't be cheap. Sometimes I feel like I have the Al Bundy curse.

Re: Pictures of 1969 Blazer
Even aftermarket side panels you are paying 5-600 apiece. If you can beat that price you are doing good.

Good for you for going the extra mile. I feel your frustration. It will at least make a helluva story...and we'll all drool a bit over it when your done. Until then, hold fast, keep pushing and take comfort in our collective moral support.
