Yeah there was only 3. I clicked on each picture and saved them in my "My Pictures" folder on my computer. I then go into my pictures and one at a time open the picture up and right click on it and rotate it either counterclockwise or clockwise and then close. then I hit reply and scroll down to manage attachments. click browse and find the picture then download. submit reply. Sounds difficult but isn't really.

welcome from just down the road! Looks like your aiming high, but that's what makes dreams come true. Stay focused and try to touch it often so you see progress and it keeps you interested.
You can also help yourself with weight distribution by mounting the engine farther back a few inches and notch the firewall.
Again, Welcome to the board and congrats on your truck!

Does anybody have any cage pics or help i am not sure if i will have to run bars out the back of the cab or if anybody found a good way not to put holes in the cab??

Re: 1972 c30 pro/street

It depends how fast you are wanting to go. Any faster than 10 seconds and you have to have a roll bar with "back bars" going down to the frame.
I have a 67 "Chevy II Nova drag car that's about 90% done" after a couple years, uncounted thousands of dollars, and still not going down the strip.
You might be better off sourcing a 1/2 ton frame and updating the front/rear suspension then set you Dad's cab on it. You can go fast, still keep Dad's truck alive, and have a nice little runner.
I am also building a C30 1 ton dually and every stinking part is wayyyyyyy heavy. The front crossmember is so heavy I cut it in half thinking I could load it on my trailer and haul to scrap. Still going to have to use the hoist. Frames are over twice as heavy.
Pics of my nova frame.

Well cooperhw that is gonna be a nice ride you got there and i think i will just start fresh by making a frame and setting the cab on it but im not sure on what i want to use yet either a thin walled 2x3 or 2x4 for the rails the pipe for gussets crossmembers and cage or just if i want to do the entire thing with pipe any input on which is easier or simply a better more efficient design would be awesome thanks guys!

I used the required gauge 2" X 3" rectangle pipe or stock. Had a straight axle under it for the nostalgia bit, but couldn't get rid of the death wobble so I cut the frame off and welded in an S-10 front clip.
One of these days. Might be done if I didn't get sidetracked with this truck thing I got going right now.

Re: 1972 c30 pro/street

Ya the death wobble sucks i recently had to tear the front end apart on my dodge 3500 cummins not the funnest job ever but had to be done i guess!! O and cooperhw do you have to put the pipes on the cage coming out the back on the top corners or could i bring them down a bit and run them through some scratch/shatter resistant plexiglass?

Re: 1972 c30 pro/street

they have to come directly off the main hoop near the roof for a less than 10 second car/truck. they don't have to be straight but the rules (found in the nhra rule book I bought off their website) are very clear that they go directly to the frame (or body with plates on a unibody car).
With you in the truck it would depend on how much higher the main hoop is above your head as to whether or not it can go out the window.
Chances are real good that truck will never run less than 10 seconds so you can probably do anything you want.

Re: 1972 c30 pro/street

I figure if i get serious enough about trying to go fast id be able to push it under 10 not saying im going to but theres always a chance down the road i could get a wild hair and want to convert everything to fiberglass and throw a new motor at it but i doubt it haha
