Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
Nice color! couldn't help but notice the slats in the grill of the example pic, think they look pretty good but never seen them before.

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
Would you happen to have any pictures of the motor to Trans adapter? And is the Trans/transfer case in the 4wd small block rear morning position? I have a k10 that I would like to put a LS motor into but I don't want to change the th350/np205 or move them but there in the stock rear morning location and I'm just wondering if somehow the LS motor gives you better firewall clearence as I seen your clearence is perfect

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
All you need to adapt the 5.3 to a th350 is advanced adapters flexplate and spacer part# 712500a. I had to move my whole drivetrain forward 4 inches to clear the firewall. Hopes this helps.

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
Put some more body panels on today to check for any alignment issues before its painted. Nice to see it looking more like a truck after three years.

I did a little digging and found your thread. Very nice truck! Looking forward to following along. I hope you get the hood thing sorted out.

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
After trying to get the hood to line up with the cowl and fenders in every possible way we decided it wasnt going to work. I contacted Classic Industries and told them my fitment issues and after many phone calls and e-mails they are going to pay to have it shipped back. There is a catch though. They are going to put it on a truck they have and if they have fitment issues i will get 100% refund but if they dont i get the refund minus shipping. Guess we will see. Meanwhile a friend of mine let me borrow a Goodmark cowl hood he has and it fit just fine.

Hope you get your money back Dave. What a pain in the arss.
Soon enough I'm sure you'll have a nice cowl hood and this will always be history. Chris

I hope so too. I just cant stand when they act like im may be lying. Especially after sending a half dozen pics. Would have much rather it fit and get on with the build.

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
Are those headers 1 5/8 or 17/8 primaries? I'm doing something similar in my 67 K20 but I'm putting a magnuson s/c on a LS1 with a 4l80E.

My painter did a few more spray outs for me so i can finally decide what to match up to the silver on my two tone paint job. Let me know what you think.

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
I like the darker richer colors. Will contrast nicely with the brighter silver.
Nice colors either way though.now, let's get that thing in color already! Chris

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
Few more pics. This has been a long time waiting. My goal was to finish my build before my grandmother past away but unfortunately due to four years of dealing with body shops that did not happen. I am hoping to have it back in the next few weeks. Thats when the monkey will be on my back to get it finished.

Re: Grandpas 71 GMC
Went to the body shop today to drop off the new grille and check on any progress today. They got the base coat of silver on the bed and will be spraying the candy apple red tomorrow. Getting closer.
