Re: I bought another one!!!
Hey TJ, great find,Those old v6s are pullin mothers,A little story-I had a 60 GMC,v6,3 speed, It had a hyd clutch and the hose had a crack in it and all the fluid leaked out,I get in the truck step in the clutch {with it in first gear} and hit the key,It fires up and in a flash I go threw the garage doors and into the back of my dads car. The clutch pedal return spring was so stiff you couldnt tell if you had clutch or not,So I learned to start in N,I used to be able to shift that truck without using the clutch,Find the right rpm and it would go right into gear!

Re: I bought another one!!!
JC, Thanks man!
CV65 Yeah I shift sometimes without a clutch. Luckily this 64 has a manual clutch. Much better. lol So a little update...put a new set of tires on it(picture 1), and how rare are these Power Brake pedals?(picture 2) and also...anyone know what this lever thingy is for. Picture 3.

Re: I bought another one!!!
That's the plan. lol Tune up the engine and replace the front glass, get the front signals working and possibly rebuild the carb and drive it!

Re: I bought another one!!!
So I finally settled on a name.....my 1st name for the truck was "Crusty" but since I refer to it as a "she" I've now named her "Crustine." lol Wouldn't wanna insult her now.

Re: I bought another one!!!
So according to the GMC guys on the GMC truck club that lever thingy is a manual windshield washer pump. Guess GM had those available....Oh I can see myself trying to pump that thing and drive at the same time with my girl friend yelling "Pump faster!!!!" haha!

Re: I bought another one!!!
So quite a bit has happened with this thing over the past couple weeks. lol I'm not gonna go through the whole thing again so I'll sum up. While doing the tune up on the engine I started to experience a knocking noise.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyhgUvL-2wU And after tons of tinkering and checking around suddenly the knocking went away....literally all by itself! Talked to the experts and they suggested a sticky lifter which is pretty well possible. Other than that the tune up is pretty much complete minus the carb and a leaky head gasket. Gonna put new head gaskets on and clean her up a bit and she should be good to go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xoTKUE_7z4

Re: I bought another one!!!
Not to rain on your parade or anything, but AFAIK all of the GMC V6's used solid lifters (IMO it didn't sound like a collapsed hydraulic lifter in the clip anyway). I would look into it before I started buying parts and replacing stuff.

Re: I bought another one!!!
It would be easy to drop something into the cylinder , and that is the noise it would make .. i always blow all the garbage off the area of the plugs before attempting to replace them if it did stop making the noise , then it went through the engine , or it just finally clearanced itself ...
