Interesting - that would have come with a 3.73 standard or 3.07/4.11 optional, none of which would give you 3k rpm at 55 mph. So, someone must've made some changes along the way or your speedo is way off, or both perhaps. Is it a 6 or 8 cyl tach?

Re: 1968 c10 gear ratio for highway

My 68 originally was a manual and 327. It has 3.07 ration which appears to be stock. has decent power for what I want to do...

Re: 1968 c10 gear ratio for highway

Jocko it has a factory repop 8cyl tachometer. Th e more I get into the truck the more it seems he was trying to make a stop light racer out of it. The cam has a lumpy idle and low vacuum. Its going away for a R.V. cam also has a Victor dual plane manifold I will probably keep it. So all that being said I would tend to believe that it has had 411 raio put in.

That's a good looking dash panel ya got there. That speed and RPM are a lot more what I have in mind. Thanks for the input.
