Wow! Only took a scroll through your post for the bed fender mod to really grow on me !!! I agree that the best mods should be unnoticeable or like it was always there. I have seen elsewhere a pic of a LWB fleet side truck turned unibody, looked pretty cool. I think the two mods together could result in a damn sharp truck that would always stand apart…...

Thanks for looking! Yea, that does sound pretty cool, especially on a long bed.
Not really my style though, I want to be able to take the bed off at anytime if I need to.
Even these fender skirts may become a problem for me in the future, I want to slam it to the ground eventually.

Here's a throwback to the '90s...
This is the original beast, my dad's '69 4x4.
I was probably 7 or 8 when I took these.
All that's left of this truck is the grille, glad I was able to save it.

Been a long time since I was last on here,
haven't done much to the truck in the last year, just been driving it... until now.

Didn't get any burn out videos yet, but I did burn out.

Got tired of scraping the pipes on the ground.

Started ripping things apart, making a new exhaust system now.

Got Flowtech Rams Horn Cast Iron headers.

They fit in there nicely, much easier to get to the spark plugs, but I had to beat the firewall in more because the engine sits so far back.

I decided to run the pipes out the passenger side, 2 into 1, outside the frame rail.

The other pipe will cross under the oil pan behind the cross member.

The headers take a 2.5 inch pipe, so I bought some U bends from Jeg's and this massive Y pipe. 2.5 dual into 3.5 single.

I looked for a stock muffler to keep the quiet sleeper status, but this one fits well under the cab. It will just have to be loud this time.

All welded up. I'm clamping it on both sides of the Y pipe.
I found I can take each side in and out separately.
Don't ask me how it worked out that way.

Almost done, gotta mount the muffler and run pipe out the side behind the cab.

I hope you realize that a 67 GMC hood has GMC stamped into the center, so this is more of a 67 GMC with a 68 -70 GMC grille

Yes, well aware. I got the grille from my Dad's '69 GMC.

I prefer the de-badged look. I wanted it to be a one of a kind build.

The bed was my own custom mod.

I'm not sure I would be comfortable with my exhaust running anywhere that close to my oil pan, to each thier own but that exhaust tube is going to be running extreme temp's right beside your engines life blood resevoir.

Also, your upper shock mounts! What is going on there? Are you planning on running it like that? Or is this just for mock up purposes?

I'm not concerned about it. I've seen many stock exhaust systems that run exactly the same way. Radiant heat is not nearly as bad as conduction. I could always add a heat shield if need be.

The shocks have been functioning that way for awhile now haha I know things look a little crazy, but there's a method to my madness.
I'm planning to slam this thing eventually, so I'll be welding and making things look better and permanent when the time comes.

You should run it and shoot that portion of the oil pan with a temp gun and see what it's heating up too, I've just seen Trans's temps get ugly with exhaust running too close, just a thought. Truck looks great, love the slammed look for sure.

Thanks, I have a temp gun, so I'm going to try that. I was thinking about a oil temp gauge too, but it holds 7 quarts so that should help. Thanks for the advice.

This is the exact mod I am about to attempt with my 69 very soon. I love the look of the 67 front end.

This is as far as I am, looks like it's going to be a frame off.
